Canon’s CLC 5000+ is an ideal solution for any high-volume production
environment that demands quick turnaround and high image quality.
It boosts productivity by broadening the capabilities of commercial
printers, CRDs, and print-for-pay centers—while maintaining the
sharpest image quality imaginable.
The most effective way to illustrate how the CLC 5000+ maximizes
productivity and streamlines workflow is by examining each phase of the
production process, from the beginning stages of your job right through
to its completion.

Once your print job is designed and
ready for production, the CLC 5000+
is ready to operate—either as a
stand-alone device or as part of a
networked printing system.
If you use the CLC 5000+ as part of a
networked system, you are not
alone. Over 90% of CLC devices
sold are connected with a
Raster Image Processor (RIP),
making them complete printon-demand
networked solutions.
Once connected, you’ll be able to
send your print job directly from your desktop (or download
it to the server).
When connecting the CLC 5000+, you can choose
either of Canon’s two new ColorPASS Servers—
the ColorPASS-Z4600 or the ColorPASS-Z5100—or
T/R Systems MicroPress ® for Canon.
The Canon ColorPASS servers come
complete with NetWise 3, a flexible
solution that makes it easy to hook
into your existing network. And
should your project incorporate
images found in hard-copy originals,
Canon’s Color Servers also include
Fiery ® Remote Scan 4.
For advanced color control over your
job, or if you want to match the color
output from another machine, you’ll
connecting seamlessly
rely on ColorWise ® 3. This comprehensive color management
software package provides out-of-the-box,
high-quality color. In a color-critical environment,
you’ll want to connect to the
ColorPASS-Z5100 in order to
employ Canon’s optional
Graphic Arts Feature Set.
It includes features like
Spot-On, to reproduce
PMS colors accurately and
consistently; Multiple Plate
Separations, for complex
color breakdowns; and, Soft
Proofing, to accurately preview
color assignments.
ColorWise Color Editor
If you are managing multiple projects, Canon Color
Servers make the task easy. They are equipped with
Command WorkStation 4, the job management software
that lets you view and control all jobs—from all
devices—on one screen.
The CLC 5000+ fits seamlessly into a T/R Systems
MicroPress workflow. If your job contains color and
monochrome pages (or all color
pages), this server option lets you
split the job—so you can use the same
server to send different pages to
separate output devices. And if you
manage an in-plant facility, a corporate
reproduction department, or a prepress
operation, you’ll find that MicroPress
Technology has a number of other
features designed to boost your
capabilities and productivity.
ColorPASS

Now that your project has been
rasterized, it’s ready to be output
with all the meticulous image quality
you’ve come to expect from Canon.
The colors on your job will appear to jump off the page
because the CLC 5000+ uses Canon’s Finer, Brighter (FB)
Toner and advanced charging system. As a result, the
CLC 5000+ brings you smoother gradations, cleaner
images, and crisper text. And Canon’s Automatic Image
Refinement system boosts your text and graphics to the
visual equivalence of 800 x 400 dpi, so your output will
have the sharpest detail possible.
On high-volume and quickturnaround
assignments, the
CLC 5000+ is exemplary. It
employs a straight paper path
that allows it to output 50
pages per minute, has a

Auto Duplexing, the CLC 5000+
outputs double-sided sheets through either of its paper
decks—on stocks up to 163gsm/90 lb. Index/60 lb. Cover.
If your job calls for specific media, you’ll find that the
CLC 5000+ works with countless paper stocks and
transparencies, as well as any Canon-approved media
(including brochure media and coated covers). It has a
performing brilliantly

up to 4,000 letter-sized
sheets of 20 lb. Bond,
and a user-adjustable
paper deck that holds
2,000 sheets of 8-1/2"
x 11", 11" x 17", or 12" x
18" paper.

Copying Flawlessly
In some instances, you’ll want to use the CLC 5000+ as
a stand-alone copier. It employs Canon’s Scan-Once-
Print-Many (SOPM) system, which avoids compression
technology and the loss of digital information that
frequently comes with it. The SOPM system also saves
you time because it generates multiple copies from a
single scan.
Should your copying assignments become larger or
more involved, Canon offers an optional Recirculating
Document Feeder that accommodates up to 100 sheets
of letter, letter-R, or statement originals, or 50 sheets
of ledger or legal paper (from 17 lb. to 32 lb.). And
Canon’s optional Editor (shown above) lets you
manipulate images, alter colors, or adjust sizes with
the touch of a pen.

Once your job is imaged, it is ready
for the finishing process.
If your job requires stapling
and sorting, the CLC 5000+
has an optional 20-bin
stapler sorter that staples,
sorts, and cascades complete
document sets. And
if you’re working on a highvolume
project, you can
stack up to 2,500 sheets
with Canon’s optional
High-capacity Stacker—
allowing you to use offline
finishing equipment.
If your project is a multipage document, you can use
Canon’s Nagel Finisher to create brochures, booklets,
newsletters, and more. By using one of Canon’s
ColorPASS Servers or T/R Systems MicroPress for
Canon, you can turn the Nagel Finisher into a complete
solution—and easily produce professionally saddlestitched
and trimmed booklets.
