Finding the University of Derby
Parking
Unless you have a disabled parking badge (blue badge), please park
at our main site – Kedleston Road – and walk or catch the regular
shuttle bus to our Markeaton Street or Britannia Mill sites.
From the north
From the M1/J28, take the A38 south, signposted Derby. At the first major roundabout, continue along the A38
signed Matlock, Ashbourne, Uttoxeter (Outer Ring Road).
For Kedleston Road, go all the way round the next roundabout and return north on the A38. Take the first exit,
signposted University. Turn left at the top of the slip road and we’re on the right.
For Markeaton Street, continue south on the A38 to the next roundabout and take the first exit onto Ashbourne
Road, signposted A52 Derby (City Centre). Then take the first street on the left, Pybus Street.
For Britannia Mill, continue south on the A38 to the next roundabout and take the first exit onto Ashbourne Road,
signposted A52 Derby (City Centre). Take the sixth left onto Merchant Street – the University building is on the left
after the first junction.
From the south and west
From the M1/J24, take the A50 signposted Stoke-on-Trent. Leave the A50 at J4 and head north on the A38 towards
Derby. Bear left at the next roundabout (A38). From the west, take the eastbound A50 and join the A38 as above.
For Kedleston Road, continue straight on at the next roundabout (A38). Take the first exit, signposted University.
Turn left at the top of the slip road and we’re on the right.
For Markeaton Street, take the third exit at the next roundabout onto Ashbourne Road, signposted A52 Derby
(City Centre). Then take the first street on the left, Pybus Street.
For Britannia Mill, take the third exit at the next roundabout onto Ashbourne Road, signposted A52 Derby (City
Centre). Take the sixth left onto Merchant Street – the University building is on the left after the first junction.
From the east (Nottingham, A52)
At the end of the A52, continue straight on at the Pentagon roundabout onto the underpass, signposted City
Centre (North).
For Kedleston Road, bear left, following the signs for A6 Matlock. Once in the one-way system, keep left and
follow the signs for Quarndon and Allestree. This will bring you onto Kedleston Road – the University is less than a
mile, on the right, just after the road crosses the A38.
For Markeaton Street, continue straight on after the underpass and follow the Inner Ring Road signs for
Ashbourne (A52), making sure you stay in the right hand lanes. This will lead you to turn right at traffic lights onto
Friar Gate. After passing under the iron bridge, turn right into Pybus Street about a half mile up the road.
For Britannia Mill, continue straight on after the underpass and follow the Inner Ring Road signs for Ashbourne
(A52), making sure you stay in the right hand lanes. This will lead you to turn right at traffic lights onto Friar Gate.
After passing under the iron bridge, turn right into Merchant Street about a half mile up the road - the University
building is on the left after the first junction.
