The National Infantry Museum houses one of the most significant
collections of military artifacts in existence. The new $100 million museum
is located just off Main Post on South Lumpkin Road.
In The Columbus Area
During your visit to Ft. Benning, we invite you to come downtown. Walk
along the Chattahoochee RiverWalk, a 15-mile linear park, drop by the
Columbus Museum for a breathtaking experience, or step back in time at
The National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus...The only museum
in the nation to recount the Civil War from both the Union and Confederate
Navies perspectives. From barbecue to banjos from Bach to bluegrass,
that's "what progress has preserved."
Columbus is a real Southern town where residents
still drawl and say "ma'am." A town with fascinating
history at every turn. Located on the banks of the
Chattahoochee River, it was planned in the early
1800's, and much of its history has been preserved.
It's also a busy Industrial center that speaks the
new language of a multicultural society and global
economy.
