Dear friends,
When we moved our family to Curahuasi in
fall 2003 and spent the nights on the floor of
a house made of mud, our dream of a modern
hospital for the Quechua Indios was largely
unknown. Nine years later, students at a
school in Stockholm held a fund-raiser concert
for Diospi Suyana. Members of staff from ten

The blue sky was a perfect match
for the occasion as 400 children and
adults celebrated the dedication of the
Diospi Suyana Children´s Club House.
Many members of staff, headed up by
Lyndal Maxwell, had spent days in preparation
for the festivities.
The Diospi Suyana team, made up of 30 volunteers,
visited the Quechua village of Asil in
the mountains on March 16. Their message
to the people: “We will not close our eyes to
your fate!“ Approximately 180 patients received
treatment and gifts were distributed to

different nations are serving at the hospital. This
summer the book of the Diospi Suyana story
will come out in many countries of South America.
God can make something very big out of
something very small when we put our trust
in Him. Which is why all the glory goes to Him

Klemenz´supervision, will be home to
most of the Diospi Suyana Children´s
Clubs. Founded in 2005 this branch of
our work has grown steadily and currently
20 missionaries and Peruvians lead
clubs for approximately 400
children each
week.

Oxen are useful animals, particularly in the
Andes, where they have to do the job of
the tractor on the steep mountain slopes.
Unfortunately, in a village not too far from
Curahuasi, one ox thrust its horn into a
Quechua Indian´s eye. With a surgery microscope,
ophthalmist Dr. Ursula Buck was
able to examine the wound and to save the
damaged eye. This was the first time the microscope
donated
by HAAG-STREIT
was used.

Staff Pass on the Baton
In February Diospi Suyana said a grand farewell
to Ortrun Heinz, who had made a significant
contribution to setting up the
hospital in its first five years,
including responsibility for the
nursing staff.
Marit Weilbach also returned
to Germany after four years of
hard work as a nurse and in the
children´s clubs
Due to her upcoming marriage,
theater nurse Ulrike Beck left
Peru after heading up the surgery
wing since 2010.

more patients can be treated this year
than in 2011. In March alone 2,429 patients received

Lisa Isaak, who will be serving
in the dental lab after language
studies.
Nurse Katharina Müller is
planning to serve for three
years in the operating rooms.
She is currently hard at work
studying Spanish, along with
Katarina Miske from Neuwied,
who will serve in nursing for
three years.

Fund-raiser Concert in Stockholm
Agnes Kloft is in 12th grade of the German
school in Stockholm. Years ago in Germany she
heard the story of Diospi Suyana and was deeply
moved – and so on March 16 she organized
a fund-raiser at her high school. Over 9,500 Swedish
crowns
was raised for
Diospi Suyana.
She writes:

An Enchanting Smile
All day long Tibor Minge
sits in the dental lab and
files away at perfect solutions
for unfortunate
patients with poor teeth.
The results are something
to be proud of!
On March 21, during the ”ProChrist-evangelistic
crusade“ in Bielefeld, pastor Ulrich Parzany spoke
on the subject of “A God for Everyone“. In the
pre-program, Pastor Hamilton interviewed Dr.
John about his experience of God. The missionary
doctor spoke to an audience of 2,500, saying that
indeed everyone needed God for a meaningful
life and that it didn´t matter whether you were a
Quechua Indio or a company director, God was
the answer for everyone.
