<strong>Booking</strong> <strong>an</strong> <strong>audit</strong> <strong>inspection</strong><br />

Information for plumbers<br />

New operating hours<br />

From 1 July 2011 the operating hours for booking<br />

<strong>inspection</strong>s <strong>an</strong>d getting technical advice on 1300 889 099<br />

are between 8am - 2pm, Monday to Friday.<br />

<strong>Booking</strong> procedure<br />

To book <strong>audit</strong> <strong>inspection</strong>s, plumbers <strong>an</strong>d drainers in<br />

Sydney, the Illawarra <strong>an</strong>d Blue Mountains should:<br />

● pay the <strong>audit</strong> <strong>inspection</strong> fee at <strong>an</strong>y Quick Check<br />

agent<br />

● call <strong>Fair</strong> <strong>Trading</strong> on 1300 889 099 between 8am <strong>an</strong>d<br />

2pm, Monday to Friday to book <strong>an</strong> <strong>inspection</strong>.<br />

Next day bookings are subject to <strong>an</strong> available time. Same<br />

day <strong>inspection</strong>s are not available.<br />

Information required<br />

Please ensure you have the following information ready<br />

when booking <strong>an</strong> <strong>inspection</strong>:<br />

● if <strong>an</strong> electronic Permit to Work (PTW) has been<br />

submitted via Quick Check (QC) you must supply this<br />

number first<br />

● if you have not applied for <strong>an</strong> electronic PTW you<br />

must supply the QC reference number<br />

● the job site address including lot number <strong>an</strong>d street<br />

number<br />

● your plumber’s licence number <strong>an</strong>d contact details<br />

(not comp<strong>an</strong>y details)<br />

● site information, such as type of building, the meeting<br />

point on a large site, whether access to a confined<br />

space is required, site induction or road opening<br />

● the site contact name <strong>an</strong>d phone number (if you are<br />

not going to be there)<br />

● the details of the <strong>inspection</strong> being requested, for<br />

example whether its drainage work, recycled water<br />

work, or <strong>an</strong> unattended final <strong>inspection</strong><br />

● re‑<strong>inspection</strong> for non compli<strong>an</strong>t work.<br />

Inspection hours<br />

July 2011<br />

Inspection hours are between 8.00am <strong>an</strong>d 4.00pm,<br />

Monday to Friday or after hours by arr<strong>an</strong>gement<br />

(additional fees apply). The booking team will try to<br />

arr<strong>an</strong>ge <strong>an</strong> <strong>inspection</strong> at a time <strong>an</strong>d date that suits your<br />

job requirements (if that time is available).<br />

What if I need to c<strong>an</strong>cel <strong>an</strong><br />

<strong>inspection</strong>?<br />

To c<strong>an</strong>cel <strong>an</strong> <strong>inspection</strong>, contact the <strong>inspection</strong> booking<br />

staff on 1300 889 099 between 8am <strong>an</strong>d 2pm.<br />

Outside of these hours you c<strong>an</strong> send a text message<br />

to 0400 773 541 (please do not use this number for <strong>an</strong>y<br />

other purpose or at <strong>an</strong>y other time). You must provide a<br />

valid reference number <strong>an</strong>d address in your message for<br />

the c<strong>an</strong>cellation to be actioned. You will receive a return<br />

confirmation text message during the operating hours. A<br />

valid reference number is:<br />

● the initial reference number used to book <strong>an</strong><br />

<strong>inspection</strong>, or<br />

● the <strong>inspection</strong> ID given to you when you booked <strong>an</strong><br />

<strong>inspection</strong>.<br />

C<strong>an</strong> I still get technical advice?<br />

Yes. Technical advice is available on 1300 889<br />

099 between 8am <strong>an</strong>d 2pm, Monday to Friday.<br />

However, you no longer need to wait on the<br />

phone. Email your technical enquiries <strong>an</strong>y time to<br />

PIAStechnical@services.nsw.gov.au <strong>an</strong>d you will receive<br />

a response via email within 2 working days. Please make<br />

sure you also provide your phone contact details.<br />

IMPORTANT – For technical questions make sure<br />

you have a current version of the relev<strong>an</strong>t st<strong>an</strong>dards<br />

(AS/NZS3500) available for reference. Responses<br />

by Technical Support staff will refer to the relev<strong>an</strong>t<br />

st<strong>an</strong>dard.


Ch<strong>an</strong>ges to remember<br />

In summary:<br />

● from 1 July 2011, the operating hours for booking<br />

<strong>inspection</strong>s or getting technical advice are between<br />

8am - 2pm, Monday to Friday<br />

● from 1 July 2011, <strong>an</strong>y after hours (before 8am <strong>an</strong>d<br />

after 2pm) <strong>inspection</strong> c<strong>an</strong>cellations c<strong>an</strong> be advised<br />

via a text message to 0400 773 541, providing a valid<br />

reference number <strong>an</strong>d address for the c<strong>an</strong>cellation to<br />

be actioned<br />

● you c<strong>an</strong> email your technical enquires <strong>an</strong>y time to<br />

PIAStechnical@services.nsw.gov.au <strong>an</strong>d receive a<br />

response within 2 working days.<br />
