Q: What are the changes within ASG V7 Web Filter?
A: Starting with release V7.002 Astaro Security Gateway is going to use a new URL
filtering technology based on SurfControl's Internet Threat Database.
Q: What are the benefits of the new technology?
A: With the new technology Astaro is deploying its own URL database servers at
various neuralgic sweet-spots around the world. These servers are hosted by
Astaro using a high performance communication protocol hence providing a
significantly better response time to the end user no matter where he is located.
Q: Will the end user realize any changes while surfing the web?
A: Apart from the faster URL access there might be additional pages that are now
filtered depending on the language, country and configured web filter policy.

Q: If I was using the ASG Web Filter based on Cobion/ISS up until now do I have to
make any changes within my ASG configuration?
A: No, as all existing categories are automatically mapped to SurfControl categories
you don’t have to make any changes.
Q: Is there an option to choose between the old and the new database?
A: As Astaro has made sure that all categories of the former URL filter have been
mapped the transition is completely transparent to the user. Thus there is no
need to stay with the old URL filter.
