Nominations for
Master Builder of Men Award
The Master Builder of Men Award was established in 1950 by the National Executive Board as the highest
honor that FarmHouse Fraternity can bestow upon one of its alumni members.
The award is recognition and public acknowledgment of the member’s unselfish leadership and service to
his fellow man, both within the Fraternity and outside. Neither position, wealth, nor occupation enter into
consideration for the award, but simply what he has done to help others.
A Master Builder of Men is a member of FarmHouse Fraternity who...
• is a leader in the Fraternity and has a continuing interest in improving both the chapters and
associations;
• has demonstrated interest in young people by giving help and encouragement to them to improve
themselves through further training;
• is a living example of the fraternity principles;
• is a gentleman and respected citizen in his own community.
The nomination should be comprised of (1) biographical sketch, (2) detailed statement of the nominee’s
service to the Fraternity, and (3) at least three, but no more than six, letters from persons outside the International
Executive Board in support of the nomination.
A posthumous nomination will only be considered if the individual honored has been deceased no more
than two Conclaves. Nominations can be re-submitted if individuals were not selected for the award in prior years of
submission, however the materials/letters should be updated.
Nominations should be submitted to the International Office by March 1, 2006. Nominations will be
reviewed and studied by the Awards committee, composed of past recipients of the award as selected by the
International President. Final selection is by the International Board. Award winners will be notified by the
International President and invited to attend Conclave.

Nomination process
for Honorary Members
To be eligible for Honorary Membership, a man must be outstanding in agriculture or its related sciences;
fulfill the objectives and high standards of FarmHouse; and/or must be a source of inspiration to his associates and
acquaintances. Such a man is entitled, upon becoming a member, to enjoy full rights and privileges which accrue to
all members of the Fraternity. A man who is nominated for membership in FarmHouse may not be a member of any
other social fraternity.
The nomination should be composed of a one-page resume on each nominee to be supplied by the group or
person making the nomination. You must also supply letters of support from a FarmHouse chapter, an association, a
faculty advisory committee and at least three letters from other sources, such as industry, business and/or the
university community.
Nominations must be submitted to the International Office by March 1, 2006. Nominations will be
received and studied by the Awards Committee. Nominees for Honorary Membership are chosen by the
International Board, based on recommendations of the Awards Committee. Men invited to join in membership in
FarmHouse will be contacted by the International President and an invitation extended to the prospective member to
attend Conclave.

Nominations for
International Board seats
Four seats on the FarmHouse International Board of Directors will be up for election at the 2006 Conclave.
Chapters, associations and alumni should begin thinking about possible nominees for the four-year term. Names and
supporting materials should be submitted to the International Office by March 1, 2006 for consideration.
Supporting materials should consist of an outline or resume of the man’s FarmHouse, professional and
civic work that qualifies him to serve on the FarmHouse International Board.
The following suggested nomination criteria and job description are not official guidelines and are provided
as food for thought for an alumnus considering running for office.
Suggested nomination criteria:
• Experience with chapter (as an advisor or through an association office);
• Creative, especially in regard to pro-active planning and programming;
• Commitment to serve FarmHouse and able to commit time required;
• Other factors to consider:
1. Age
2. Geographic distribution of Board
3. Areas of expertise
Job description:
• Attend all Board Meetings as called by the president, generally one each in spring and fall (Friday, Saturday &
Sunday) and one at Conclave (just before it);
• The Board is collectively charged with hiring an Executive Director and reviewing that person’s performance,
formulating the vision of the Fraternity and helping develop the organization’s objectives/goals and overseeing
the fiscal aspects of the organization;
• Perform at least one consultation visit of 2-3 days duration each year to include writing and submitting a written
report on each visit within deadlines prescribed by Board;
• Accept committee and/or task force assignments as assigned by the President and/or full Board;
• Provide supervision, monitoring and support of the Fraternity and its affairs as generally expected of persons
serving on such a Board of Directors;
• All out-of-pocket travel expenses incurred in serving on the International Board are reimbursed by the
Fraternity.
