Phlllp Gordon Soderberg is a native lowan, having been born on a dalry<br />

farm near BarEr<strong>of</strong>t in the norh central part <strong>of</strong> the state. He graduated from<br />

lowa Sbt€ Unlvorsity in 1959 in Agronomy with a minor In Ag Economlcs.<br />

Subggquendy h6 sp€nt two years in he United States Army, most <strong>of</strong> the<br />

tlm€ belng spent at the Quartermastor Research & Development Labs at<br />

Natlck, Massachusetts.<br />

Phil's Masonic career b€gan in the historb Lodg€ <strong>of</strong> Pleasant Grove No. 22<br />

b€ing rals€d on March 1, 1966. He served as Worshipful Master In 1973<br />

and again in 1990. Phil served the <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> as Custodian from 1980 to<br />

1990 and \,vas appointed to the <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> llne In 1990 by P.G.M. Charles<br />

Baltos. He also s€rved on fre Board <strong>of</strong> ihs Mlnnesota Masonic Foundatlon<br />

for nine years<br />

Phil has also been active in the appendant bodies, serving as Comrnandol<br />

<strong>of</strong> Kadosh and also as Venerable Master <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Perfection in the<br />

Roch€ster Valloy <strong>of</strong> the Scottish Rite. In 1989 he was coroneted with the 30<br />

Degree Inspector General Honorary. Phll ls a member <strong>of</strong> the York Rite<br />

Bodies in Rochester, the Red Cross <strong>of</strong> Constantine, St. G€org€ Conclave<br />

#6 and the Royal Order <strong>of</strong> Scotland. He ls a m€mber <strong>of</strong> the Osman Shrine<br />

and has served on the ritualistic Dlvan several times. He is Past Associate<br />

Guardian <strong>of</strong> Beth€l No. 13 <strong>of</strong> the Job's Daughters in Rochestor.<br />

Most <strong>of</strong> Phil's prolessional career has b€en In sales and he has been the<br />

owner and op€rator <strong>of</strong> Soderberg's Willow Creek Nursery in Rochester<br />

since 1976. While attending lowa State UnlveFity, he met Bobbie and th€y<br />

were married in 1959. They are the proud parents <strong>of</strong> four children; Karla<br />

Pederson <strong>of</strong> Woodbury, Kirston Schlmek <strong>of</strong> Flochester, Brother Eric<br />

Soderberg <strong>of</strong> Minneapolis, and Karen Soderberg <strong>of</strong> Minneapolis, and four<br />

beautlful grandchildren. Phll and Bobbie are members <strong>of</strong> People <strong>of</strong> Hope<br />

Church, a Lutheran Church In Mlsslon and both are serving on varlous<br />

commltbes, l€adership teams and choirs.
