BIOGRAPHY<br />

Roger J. Taylor<br />

Rog€r Jerome Taylor was born in the oldest house in the City <strong>of</strong><br />

Bloomington, which can still be seen just otf l-494 at Bush Lake Road.<br />

During his early years, Roger's father was not an aclive part <strong>of</strong> his growing<br />

up. H€ grew up in Minneapolis and was influenced by sevetal men in his<br />

church. who included him in "father-son'evenls. These men were<br />

successful in the community and in their vocation, and respected for the<br />

things they stood for - these men w6re members <strong>of</strong> Masonic lodges around<br />

the Twin Cities and had a pr<strong>of</strong>ound influence on Roger's life.<br />

After gradmting lrom Vocational High School, Roger completed a two-year<br />

tour <strong>of</strong> active duty in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning from the service, Roger<br />

potitioned to join Compass <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 265 in Bobbinsdale, <strong>Minnesota</strong>, being<br />

raised on March 21, 1966. He later joined Fraternal <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 92,<br />

Princeton, <strong>Minnesota</strong> in 1980, serving as Master in 1988 ahd 1989. In 1989,<br />

Roger became a dual member in North Star <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 23 in St. Cloud,<br />

<strong>Minnesota</strong>.<br />

Roger served the <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> as the <strong>Grand</strong> Standard Bearer in 1990-<br />

1991, entering the <strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Lodge</strong> progressive line in 1991. He is active in the<br />

appendant bodies, serving as Worthy Patron <strong>of</strong> Kedrbn Chapter #120 Order<br />

<strong>of</strong> Eastern Star, Princeton, four terms. Roger is a member ol Granite<br />

Chapter No.5 Order <strong>of</strong> Eastern Star, York Rite - Chapter, Council and<br />

Commandery, Sovereign York Rite College, Royal Order <strong>of</strong> Scotland, Red<br />

Cross <strong>of</strong> Constantine, Scottish Rite, Central <strong>Minnesota</strong> Past Masters Club,<br />

Zuhrah Shrine and Zuhrah Hillbilly Club.<br />

Recognized tor his dedication to the craft, Roger received the Hlram Award<br />

from Fraternal <strong>Lodge</strong> No. 92, Honorary Leglon <strong>of</strong> Honor by th€ DeMolay,<br />

and 32nd Degree Knight Commander <strong>of</strong> the Court <strong>of</strong> Honor <strong>of</strong> Scottlsh Rlte.<br />

Roger graduated from the <strong>Minnesota</strong> School <strong>of</strong> Business and attended<br />

classes at the University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Minnesota</strong>. He spent most <strong>of</strong> his protessional<br />

lile in sales, lirst in the printing industry and then the lrelght Industry. He<br />

became involved in the convention Industry when hired as a freight<br />

manager, later handling sales ot national accounts. In 1988, Floger and his<br />

brother establlshed A & N Convention Services, in St. Cloud. In 1998, after<br />

his brother retired, Roger and his wife Nancy Fischer purchased A & N and<br />

continue to operate the business. They have one son, Jeffrey, who with his<br />

wife Deb and two grandsons lives in Rice, <strong>Minnesota</strong>, and one daughter,<br />

Debbra, who lives In Brooklyn Park, Mlnnesota.
