UCD Commercial <strong>Law</strong> Centre<br />
Situated <strong>in</strong> the School of <strong>Law</strong>, the Centre is a forum which<br />
provides for a unique complementary relationship between<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>College</strong> Dubl<strong>in</strong>, and the legal and bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
communities designed to promote expertise <strong>in</strong> national and<br />
<strong>in</strong>ternational issues of commercial law and practice.<br />
The Centre’s functions are:<br />
• To promote sem<strong>in</strong>ars, conferences and courses on<br />
national and <strong>in</strong>ternational commercial law developments<br />
• To discharge the CPD function of UCD <strong>Law</strong> School<br />

The FINUAS Networks Programme<br />
The F<strong>in</strong>uas Networks Programme is dedicated to specialised tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong><br />
the <strong>in</strong>ternational f<strong>in</strong>ancial services sector and is jo<strong>in</strong>tly funded by the<br />
government and companies with<strong>in</strong> the sector. F<strong>in</strong>uas is envisaged to run for<br />
up to 5 years with fund<strong>in</strong>g allocated from the National Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Fund for<br />
2010. Managed by Skillnets Ltd. on behalf of the Department of Enterprise<br />
Trade and Employment, F<strong>in</strong>uas aims to support the sector <strong>in</strong> ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
Ireland’s position as a top <strong>in</strong>ternational f<strong>in</strong>ancial services centre through<br />
<strong>in</strong>vestment <strong>in</strong> the specialist skills and expertise of its workforce.<br />
F<strong>in</strong>uas facilitates <strong>in</strong>ternational f<strong>in</strong>ancial services companies to form<br />
enterprise-led learn<strong>in</strong>g networks which deliver tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and professional<br />
development programmes that meet specific bus<strong>in</strong>ess needs. Fund<strong>in</strong>g is also<br />
available for the design and delivery of new or revised tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g solutions to<br />
address gaps <strong>in</strong> current provision. Only bus<strong>in</strong>esses that are directly <strong>in</strong>volved<br />
<strong>in</strong> or provide professional services to the this sector are eligible for fund<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The <strong>Law</strong> Society F<strong>in</strong>uas Network is a solicitor-tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g network promoted by<br />
the <strong>Law</strong> Society of Ireland.The network aims to develop skills <strong>in</strong> each member<br />
company, skills that will <strong>in</strong>crease the expertise of Irish f<strong>in</strong>ancial services legal<br />
and taxation firms to an <strong>in</strong>ternational expertise standard and thereby<br />
enhance the global competitiveness of member firms compet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the arena<br />
of <strong>in</strong>ternational f<strong>in</strong>ancial services.<br />
The primary focus of the <strong>Law</strong> Society F<strong>in</strong>uas Network is:<br />
• Provid<strong>in</strong>g tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> specialised <strong>in</strong>ternational legal and taxation practice<br />
areas, and<br />
• Develop<strong>in</strong>g and grow<strong>in</strong>g global management & professional development<br />
skills <strong>in</strong> an ever-evolv<strong>in</strong>g environment.<br />
A strong emphasis is placed on:<br />
• Develop<strong>in</strong>g middle and senior management skills;<br />
• Develop<strong>in</strong>g global bus<strong>in</strong>ess skills amongst all staff;<br />
• Improv<strong>in</strong>g the customer relations and sales skills of all staff;<br />
• Develop<strong>in</strong>g specialised <strong>in</strong>ternational f<strong>in</strong>ancial services legal and taxation<br />
practice skills;<br />
• Improv<strong>in</strong>g personal and <strong>in</strong>terpersonal skills across all levels.<br />
The <strong>Law</strong> Society FINUAS network is funded by member companies and<br />
the FINUAS Networks Programme, managed by Skillnets Ltd. funded from<br />
the National Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Fund through the Department of Enterprise, Trade<br />
and Employment.
