The Variety Bash is a journey renowned for visiting many unique locations and this year

The Journey
<strong>Join</strong> <strong>us</strong> on the evening of Monday Aug<strong>us</strong>t 19 for our
2013 Welcome Dinner in Echuca, Victoria, situated
on the banks of the mighty Murray River.
Our journey leaves Victoria and we will make our
way to Cobar, which is the first of the booming
mining towns that we will visit. Leaving Cobar, we
continue north travelling into QLD for an overnight
stop in Quilpie which is home to “The Jewel of the
Outback”, the exquisite boulder opal.
From Quilpie we travel to Winton, a region rich in
history. In 1895, Banjo Patterson wrote A<strong>us</strong>tralia’s
unofficial anthem Waltzing Matilda at a station in
Winton Shire and first performed it in public at a
local hotel.
After Winton, we travel far north to Burketown, on
the Gulf of Carpentaria. The town is located on the
Albert River and is 40km south of the coast. Here we
will get to travel the renowned Savannah Way,
which connects Cairns, Qld to Broome, WA.
Leaving Qld, we travel into the Northern Territory
for an overnight stop in Borroloola, which is situated
on the banks of the McArthur River.

Top Springs is the next stop on the 2013 Variety
Bash. It is located at the junction of the Buntine and
Buchanan Highways and is surrounded by huge
cattle stations.
Onto Kununurra in the East Kimberley region of WA.
A region renowned for it’s natural wonders and
rugged ridges. Our stop will be an opportunity to
explore the region and take in sites such as Lake
Argyle, A<strong>us</strong>tralia’s largest expanse of freshwater
which covers up to 900 square kilometres!
From here we get to experience a working cattle
station, stopping overnight at Home Valley, which is
known for its Braham breeding program. Leaving
Home Valley, we start the last part of our journey
having an overnight stop at Mount Barnett, located
in the King Leopold Ranges, j<strong>us</strong>t off the Gibb River
Road.
Broome is our final stop on the 2013 event, a
popular tourist destination and also known for its
pearling ind<strong>us</strong>try. Our final day will be an
opportunity to relax and enjoy the surroundings
before we celebrate with our final night party.

Since 1992 the Victorian Variety Bash has covered a
staggering 87,920 kilometres and raised over $17 million for
children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
Entry Fee
The minimum requirement to enter the Variety
Bash is $7,550.
This is made up of a $550 registration fee (inc
GST) and $7,000 of donations.
The Cars
Bash cars m<strong>us</strong>t be at least 30 years old, rolling on
each year. All cars presented at Mobile Workshop
Day for the 2013 Variety Bash m<strong>us</strong>t have a body
plate identifying it has been manufactured in
1983 or before. They m<strong>us</strong>t be licensed, insured
and roadworthy as prescribed by state laws.
