Clean colours for environment and health<br />
<strong>Decoration</strong> <strong>Colours</strong><br />
Schjerning Farver produces clean colours without traces of agents which may damage the environment or the<br />
health of the user. We comply with the most stringent requirements of the market. The colours are A-labelled,<br />
which is a voluntary, Danish environmental norm, which places even heavier requirements to the cleanliness of<br />
the contents than any other norm. Our colours do not contain any allergens, PVC, phthalates or heavy metals<br />
and only a tenth of permitted dissolvent and preservative agents. The colours are cleaner than required by<br />
Danish law and much cleaner than required by European standards.<br />
ISO 14001<br />
Schjerning Farver has been certified according to ISO 14001 since 1998. This will guarantee our high standard<br />
and secure an environmentally acceptable production. We classify our waste materials and make sparing use<br />
of electricity and water. The impartial environmental control, Eurofins, controls the contents of the components,<br />
which we purchase for our production. We only use European suppliers, who have a reputation of<br />
protecting the environment and informing reliably of the contents of their products.<br />
The Environmental Product Award from EU<br />
In 2004 Schjerning Farver received the Product Award for Sustainable Development from EU. We try to live<br />
up to the award and continuously develop new, environmentally friendly hobby colours and glue in order that<br />
children and grown ups can use it without worrying.<br />
“The Joint Council for Creative and Hobby Materials” is an association of producers,<br />
importers and dealers of craft materials in Denmark. The Council assures amongst others<br />
that the members follow the legislation on the environmental area and currently work<br />
with reduction of the environmental influences of the products. The Council demands<br />
that the materials are environmental and have worked out a labelling system concerning<br />
the severe safety demands of each product.<br />

Schjerning Farver is an innovative and highly specialized enterprise. We develop and<br />
produce hobby colours and glue at our factory in Ebeltoft, in the middle of Denmark.<br />
We have our own laboratory and we ourselves mix all colours, in order that we can<br />
provide a guarantee for the contents and a uniform, high quality. We are fl exible<br />
and we take pains to produce and deliver quality on time with all due respect for our<br />
environment and health. We wish to inspire to new ways of using our products, in<br />
order that children as well as grown-ups can enjoy themselves and create their own<br />
universes by using our colours.<br />
Long tradition for quality<br />
Schjerning Farver is a privately owned company, founded in 1886. At that time Emil<br />
Schjerning dealt in colours, but he was not satisfi ed with the quality. Therefore, he<br />
started mixing colours, which could meet his high requirements.<br />
Walking in front<br />
Emil Schjerning walked in front when talking of quality. His great-grandchild, Birger<br />
Schjerning, also walked in front in 1993, when he decided to develop quality colours<br />
without dissolvent. We are continuously walking in front when it is about optimizing<br />
production and delivery, developing quality and securing the environment to the<br />
benefi t of our customers.<br />
