Dear Mr. Woodling,<br />
The investigation <strong>of</strong> the ability to recharge surface water into the groundwater aquifer in<br />
the Arroyo Pasajero area is complete. Geomatrix Consultants, Inc. provided <strong>Westlands</strong><br />
<strong>Water</strong> <strong>District</strong> with the final document Conjunctive Use Investigation Report – Arroyo<br />
Pasajero, in October. Several copies <strong>of</strong> the report for DWR, including one hard bound<br />
and several electronic copies on CD were presented to Samson Haile-Selassie.<br />
The site evaluations, including a shallow investigation conducted by Geomatrix funded<br />
by AB303 and the deep investigation conducted by DWR under the ISI program,<br />
indicate that a groundwater recharge facility in the Arroyo Pasajero has very good<br />
potential. The report based upon a proposed Prop 13 project site concludes the area<br />
has favorable groundwater storage characteristics including good infiltration, good<br />
groundwater recovery, and would improve groundwater quality.<br />
The final billing invoices for the project <strong>of</strong> $12,629 are submitted, bringing the AB303<br />
project total cost to $72,888. We thank DWR for your help with this investigation and<br />
especially the support provided by Al Steel from the San Joaquin <strong>District</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice and from<br />
Samson Haile-Selassie.<br />
