*Electronic applications are not available for the June 2013 competition. This newsletter contains
old forms as they do not give chairs complete information. Please fill out the new form completely and give accurate
timings for the music. Type or print very carefully. If your student uses an accompanist and/or serves as an accompanist
for another entrant, please be sure put that information on the application. Give the name of the accompanist for
your student and/or the name of the entrant (with category and level) your student is accompanying. This will avoid
scheduling conflicts.
IMTF Luncheon at our 2013 Conference:
Rachel Acuff welcomes your input on ideas
we can share about ways to take time off
from teaching, such as a sabbatical, maternity
leave, summer break, etc., as well as how to prepare students to be
ready to carry on the music-making process without us if we are unexpectedly
unavailable to teach for a period of time. Rachel welcomes
members who would like to share thoughts on this topic at the luncheon.
Let her know of your interest and ideas by May 1 at:
From Veronica Milnar, NCTM, TMTA President
At the business meeting in June at Union University, we will need to vote on wording in our Constitution about
email voting. The changes are noted in red. Veronica has asked that we familiarize ourselves with this wording
before the meeting, in order to make the meeting run more smoothly.
See p. 18 of our Directory to read the original:
Article VII:
Section 1. General membership. In the event of an urgent need, transaction of business by mail or by email
may be conducted by the President. Such business must have the approval of four of the Executive Board members
prior to its submission to the total membership. Each item of business submitted thus by the President must
be approved by a simple majority (51%) of the active members voting by mail or by email to become an official act
of the Association, on the condition that 30 of the ballots of members entitled to vote have been returned either by
mail or by email.
Section 2. Executive Board. The President may submit items of business by mail or by email to the full membership
of the TMTA Board requesting a vote via a mail ballot or an email ballot. The contents of the proposals
and the results of such mail or email ballots shall be reported to the Recording Secretary, approved and incorporated
in the minutes of the next meeting of the TMTA Board. A proposal will pass if it is approved by a simple
majority (51%) of returned ballots, on the condition that at least 15 of the ballots have been returned either by
mail or by email.
Article IX—AMENDMENTS
Section 2. Upon the recommendation of the Executive Board, this Constitution may be amended by either a
mail ballot or by an email ballot. Approval by a two/thirds vote shall constitute amendment, on the condition that
30 of the ballots have been returned either by mail or by email. The ballot and proposed amendments must be
submitted to the members of TMTA at least thirty (30) days in advance of the required return day. The date for
return of the completed ballots must be clearly stated on the ballot.

The TMTA Scholarship Awards Endowment
Fund is growing slowly, as
the difference between the Fund investment
growth still slightly exceeds
the amount given in awards
each year.
The investment growth of the three
funds was $7,667.38 and the deductions
totaled $4,687.95, which made
the net growth from investments
only $2,979.43. Member contributions
during the year 2011 were
$1,607.00, making the total growth
of the combined funds $4,586.43.
The TMTA Fund stands at
$45,688.68, the Elizabeth Lovell
Reed Fund is $10,984.24 and the
Carrie Warrick Fund is $5,374.34.
As the foundation rules allow only a
5% distribution each year, or
$3,102.00, we are currently exceeding
that amount and cannot increase
the awards under the present
growth pattern. The Community
Foundation has been good about our
fund, but we need to build our total.
Please consider making a small contribution
each year, as our students
deserve our support.
