Joyful profession of hope
“El Que Cree en Mí” by Eleazar Cortés
The refrain, based on the antiphon to accompany the
procession during the Ritual for Christian Burial, is joyfully
rendered in this interpretation of hopeful texts that profess
life after death. I have used it numerous times at funerals
and graveside rituals and witnessed folks make the prayer
their own, to the point of singing the simple harmonies
unrehearsed! It also works well in liturgical celebrations
that call for themes of faith, hope and resurrection,
particularly during the Easter season.
