<strong>Paper</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Snake</strong><br />

Celebrate the Chinese year of the snake by making this paper chain snake.<br />

Materials:<br />

lColoured paper (2 or 3 colors)<br />

lScissors,<br />

lSellotape or glue.<br />

Instructions:<br />

lPrint out the templates then.<br />

lColour in the head, tongue <strong>and</strong> tail then cut out.<br />

lUsing the chain template cut out 16 strips of coloured paper, 2 or 3<br />

different colours. You should get 8 strips from an A4 sheet. (See<br />

example)<br />

lDecide what type of pattern you want to make with you coloured paper<br />

chains. eg. dark green link then a light green link.<br />

Head:<br />

lGlue the tongue to the underside of the head, red side facing up, leave<br />

part of the tongue with the forked tip sticking out.<br />

lWrap the first strip of coloured paper around the snake’s neck, <strong>and</strong> form<br />

a ring, then glue the ends of the ring together. This forms the first link of<br />

the body.<br />

lFold head in half but don’t crease in the middle.<br />

lAdd some glue at to the nose just under the eyes to stick together.<br />

lhold closed till dry.<br />

Body:<br />

lSlide your next strip of coloured paper through the ring at the neck <strong>and</strong><br />

tape or glue it into a ring.<br />

lRepeat the process until you have a long chain of coloured paper rings.<br />

lAdd the tail at the last link.<br />

You can make the snake longer if you wish<br />
