meeting which would be a great shame as, if my memory serves me well, has been
running since 1983! We will soldier on as long as we can in case the attendance picks up
in the warmer spring weather.
Secondly, the DATE FOR OUR ANNUAL MO PICNIC at the farm home of Anna and
Frank Vickerman in Worcestershire will be SUNDAY 22nd JUNE (a week earlier than
normal this year, hope people will still be able to attend). Helpers would be gratefully
received just to set up some tables and layout the spares we usually sell. If you have not
yet been to our picnic please get in touch with Anna (phone number inside back cover of
FNs) who will give you friendly directions on how to find the farm.
Finally, the date for THE MALVERN SHOW is 4th·5th OCTOBER and I need early
confirmed booking of who will be attending because the closing date for Club stands is
June, so don't all rush at once, we are limited to 15-20 cars!
Oh by the way, has any Club member got an FS927 ignition barrel?
Thanks,
The long dark nights will now be disappearing and thoughts of summer and enjoying our
classics will be well upon us (although I do not mind the long dark nights as it gives you
the chance to get all those jobs done). Repainting the wife's Wolseley, dropping a 2 litre
twin-cam engine into the A40 and now my 13 year old daughter has started her racing
career in a 1 litre Mini stock car that now needs a new gearbox before the season starts in
March - ail that has given me plenty to do. Our area meeting at the Grey Horse PUb,
Elvington, near York has still been disappointing with only the odd MO-ite turning up.
There is still plenty of classic car buffs at the meet - mainly Cambridge/Oxford And
Tadcaster Car Club members. Many of these people once had A40s in the past. Just
before Christmas our Area had its winter run to the Classic Car Show at the NEC in
Birmingham. After meeting at the Woodall services on the M1, off trundled the six-car
convoy. Getting there was not a problem but before we left the show for our return journey
down came the snow which made the run home interesting! Our first show this year will be
the Tadcaster Car Club's show on the 20 April 1997. This will be followed by the
Cambridge/Oxford Owner Club's National Rally at Sewerby Hall nr. Bridlington on the 11
May 1997. All A40s are most welcome, the only change is that you now need to fill in an
entry form to gain access to the grounds. The entry is still free and I will post a form to
anybody requiring one. I also noticed the A40 in the Nissan advert. There was also a
Morris Minor but I think Bodie & Doyle would have swapped them all for a 3 litre Capri ... !
Happy Motoring,
