Inadvertent contraction of infection from
equipment or fittings is a recognised risk

With this comes the possibility of
bacterial cross-contamination and the

BioCote is a silver-based anti-microbial agent, inert and
completely safe to touch. Incorporated in the powdercoating
process, it inhibits the growth of potentially
harmful bacteria and fungi on treated surfaces.
Testing demonstrates a 100% reduction in common bacteria
over a 24-hour period on BioCote protected products and
unlike surface applied anti-bacterial treatments, BioCote is
integral within the powder-coating finish and remains

That’s the new 07 Series security locker
from Link Lockers, bringing together a
new range of features to provide levels
of protection not previously seen on
standard products.
Locking
The new cam, door and frame provide an interlocking design which increases security through strengthened locking.
This significantly increases the amount of time required to effect a forced entry into a compartment, presenting site
managers, such as school bursars, with a greater chance to spot and prevent opportunistic theft.
The cam locks through the door and into the frame. This design ensures the cam is supported against leverage from in
front and behind and the hook design locks into the tapered slot in the frame to prevent door rattle and provide
secure location.
Further security is also provided by the
standard cam locks fitted. These are a series
unique to Link Lockers. As no other
manufacturer has access to this key series,
there is substantial reduction in the risk of keys
passing which prevents unauthorised access to
locker compartments.
Shelf
The redesigned shelf further increases the overall security of the new Link Lockers range. A twin-folded extension of
the front profile closes off access to compartments above and below any open door. This effectively removes any visual
temptation to access adjacent compartments and prevents casual forced entry by hand, protecting the items stored.
By effectively introducing a protective barrier
between compartments by redesigning the
shelf, there is no need for intermediate
horizontal components between the doors.
This maximises door sizes, maintains the
clean visual lines of the locker and a solid
wall of colour to enhance the
on-site installation.

Site Survey
The working environment for lockers must be carefully planned and designed. Once
this has been completed, you can be sure your available floor space is being put to its
optimum use. This is particularly relevant in commercial environments where the cost
of office space is at a premium but proper planning in leisure and all other sectors will
ensure value for money installations.
To make this happen, Link Lockers provides a free site survey and advice service. Our
professional teams bring years of experience to every site, often providing solutions
which may initially appear obvious but which improve the facility immensely.
Project Management
Link Lockers brings experienced people, applying proven skills and techniques, to every
storage project.
From the initial briefing and site surveys, through detailed design proposals, to
manufacture, installation and final commissioning, Link Lockers project management

Installation

the site, identifying where locks or doors require replacement as well as offering

Case studies
Yardley School
Link Lockers continues to be the leading provider of locker solutions in schools
throughout the country. The installation at Yardley School and Science College
shows how correct product selection combined with proper room design and
space allocation provide a solution tailor made to the site requirements.
Yardleys School and Science College in Birmingham has some 600 locker
compartments in a new building - recently developed via the PFI - that has seen
the school bring two previously split sites onto one location. One of the
characteristics of the school’s layout is its wide, spacious corridors and the locker
configuration has been designed to complement this.
Located in six blocks which, depending upon location, offer between 50 and 150
secure compartments, the locker sites can be found on three floors of the school.
In each case they have been positioned between the support pillars of the
building with only minimal intrusion into the adjacent corridors.
This benefited floor space utilisation and is a pattern that Link’s layout designers
were able to repeat in each area, with lockers provided adjacent to appropriate
classroom facilities.
Heavy-duty Rhino lockers were used at Yardleys, having reinforced doors and a
thicker gauge of steel construction. Each locker is four tiers high. and students
have their own personal compartment opened with a key, supplied against a
returnable deposit.
The lockers were fitted with sloping tops, to prevent litter accumulation and to
make cleaning easier. To minimize scuff-damage they were raised on plinths and,
to complement the under-floor heating at the school, incorporated integral
ventilation holes
This LEA maintained comprehensive, with students up to sixth form entry, now
boasts a new building and locker facilities to match – significant elements in the
school’s continuing success story.
West Yorkshire Police
When items to be stored in lockers have a very specific purpose, a bespoke
solution is often required. Link Lockers has provided just such a solution for the
storage of police support unit (PSU) equipment in West Yorkshire.
The City and Holbeck Division is now benefiting from a comprehensive
refurbishment at its headquarters in Leeds, central to which are locker facilities for
460 officers. Importantly, each combines conventional, personal storage with units
that are purpose-designed to accommodate new personal issue PSU equipment.
Separate female and male changing areas have now been fitted out with
individual locker and PSU cages that carry up to date personal issue equipment as
specified by the Home Office. Both lockers and cages are accessed via keys
assigned to individual officers. Most of the facility also benefits from wooden
bench seating, also installed by Link Lockers, with the overall configuration
designed to make the most of the building’s dimensions. The new changing
rooms have been created within an existing building structure that has relatively
high ceilings and the site managers were looking to make the most of this space
for storage.
The Link Lockers solution provides cages for the personal issue PSU units
positioned below the lockers that allows each officer to keep his or her equipment
together, whilst maximising the number of storage units within the available
floor area.
The mesh cages are located directly underneath the full height lockers which
themselves provide both hanging and shelf storage. The cage design is the result
of detailed discussions and assessment between Link Lockers’ and the client and
the resulting bespoke solution accommodates the precise dimensions of the new
PSU bags. The overall layout also takes into consideration variable ceiling heights
and room configurations, including existing ducting and pillars and therefore
makes optimum use of the existing floor space.

Medium Duty personal lockers
Reinforced for strength
The medium duty design raises the standard duty ranges to a higher
level of protection.
Enhancing the already robust design of the 07 Series Standard Duty
lockers, the uprated medium duty versions of the 07 Series lockers
have an additional vertical reinforcement channel and a shielded
front of double-gauge steel for triple thickness protection.
This toughened design provides additional defence against the twin
problems of vandalism and theft.

from 50 mm diameter x 16 g mild steel
tube powder coated in a range of colours

The rounded design of A Range seating

from 25 mm or 38 mm square mild steel
tube powder coated light grey (RAL 7035
to match steel lockers) and are also of a
fully welded construction.
Both designs provide robust solutions for
wet and dry areas as well as making best
use of available floor and wall space.
Mitred designs accommodate solutions
into corners and a full design service is
available to ensure optimum fit with
existing or planned locker installations.
Alternative materials (304 grade stainless
steel) provide solutions for areas where
increased humidity has to be taken into
consideration.
Units can be fixed to either the floor or
wall to suit requirements and can be
installed at the same time as lockers.

Locker Support Frames
Type B
Support Frame
Locker support frames and seat units raise
lockers off the floor, reducing impact damage
and making cleaning easier. Support frames
are manufactured from 25 mm square steel
tube in a welded construction and are
painted light grey (RAL 7035) as standard to
match the lockers. Standard height is 150 mm
and widths and depths are designed to match
the locker installation.
Support Frame with Seat
Seat units incorporate the locker frame as
well as slatted seats to the front. They can
also include a mesh shelf for footwear
(below). Seats are a standard depth of 300,
400 or 450 mm and standard height is
400 mm to match freestanding bench seating
units. Standard seat material is 22 mm thick
utile slats. See pages 38 to 39 for more details
of bench seating and alternative slat materials.
