St. Hope triumphs in league
opener GIRLS
St. Hope and FDA II
faced off in the inaugural
game of the 2013 CSL
Girls Basketball League
season. Adama Lowe of
St. Hope struck first with
a layup. FDA II’s Vinnae
Laing and Diamond Grant
both played outstanding
defense, each finishing
with six rebounds. St.
Hope took the lead for
the rest of the game with
two baskets, one from
each of the sisters Adama
Lowe and Awa Lowe.

M.S. 161 edges out M.S. 180
In this tight match, M.S. 180 leapt in
front with 7 points on two running
layups from Johnise Fogg and a 3pointer
by Tanei Rivero. Amanda
Clark of M.S. 161 answered back at
the end of the first quarter with 4 of
her game-high 12 points to help narrow
the lead. M.S. 180’s 1-point lead

MVP Spotlight: Terrell Paul
GIRLS
going into the second half was quickly
erased thanks largely to Clark who
scored 6 of the 3 rd quarter’s 8 points
on a series of transition layups and
jumpers. Alina Encarnation dropped
in a bucket to close the third quarter
for M.S. 161, who held the lead for
the rest of the game.

Paul scored the first 5 points
for his team and ended the day
with 16 points, most of them
scored from inside or around
the paint. With his offensive
prowess and unselfish passing,
Paul has emerged as one of the
top guards in the league.
