Special Edition New Appointements His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Omar Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Department of Planning and Economy, official spokesman for the graduation ceremony, also congratulated the graduates and was honored to be part of this historic moment for ALHOSN University. His Excellency Mr. Mohammed gave a word of advice for the new graduates, mentioning that life holds challenges and obstacles and one must face those challenges head on, with determination, strength and perseverance and use the tools they acquired from their years of study to overcome those obstacles. Mohamed Omar Abdullah Issue 5 ALHOSN Newsletter December 2008 Graduate’s Speech 4 Finally, the graduates were granted their degrees, both post-graduates and undergraduates in the fields of Business Administration, Management Information Systems, and Industrial Engineering. The Gold Students, those who graduated with a GPA of 4.0, were honored as outstanding students. The University’s Sponsors were also give notable mention and honored during the ceremony. They are: Silver Sponsors Al Qudra Holding, and other participating sponsors including Al-Outba Holding Company, Al Meraikhi General Contacting Group, and Al Meraikhi Industrial Complex. Graduate Student receiving his Degree The first speaker was Shamsa Al Mehairi. She highlighted the university’s utmost concern in providing a comprehensive academic environment and grants female students a wealth of opportunities. Thus, reflecting ALHOSN’s belief that women are an integral part of the community and play a fundamental role in the advancement of society. Fellow graduate, Zahra Alzaabi, presented the speech in English. Representing the male graduates was Mohamed Al Katheeri who presented the male graduate speech in Arabic. He stated that the graduation ceremony is the day to reap the fruits of their labor. He remarked that this day epitomized the diligence and perseverance of the collective efforts of a team led by those who challenged them to their maximum potential including all faculty and staff. the graduate, Hussain Madhi delivered the English version of the address. Zahra Alzaabi Shamsa Al Mehairi Hussain Madhi Mohamed Al Katheeri Dr. Tarik Aouam / Assistant Professor Chair of Industrial Engineering Department Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences Dr. Aouam holds a PhD in the field of Industrial Engineering obtained from Purdue University in West Lafayette Indiana, USA. His dissertation’s topic is “Incentive Contracts using Simulation Benchmarks for natural gas local distribution companies and regulation.” Dr. Aouam’ s research interests include Operations Research (OR) applications in energy, risk management, supply chain management and wireless communications. Dr. Aouam previously worked in the airline industry.
V.C. Exclusive Interview with Abu Dhabi TV Darwish Lary Bachelor Degree Industrial Engineering I am very ecstatic today to have been a part of such a grand and organized graduation ceremony. My major has taught me discipline and many important skills crucial to my professional career. I advice all future students looking for an indemand career to join the Industrial Engineering Department. Salem Alreyami Master Degree Business Administration After graduating, I feel I have accomplished a very significant achievement in my life, for at times it seemed to be a difficult goal to reach. But I stand here with my diploma in hand as a testimony to my family and country to be proud and honored, as I promise to serve them with all my knowledge and skills I have acquired from my studies at ALHOSN University. Graduates Interviews Business Administration / Faculty of Business Dr. Adobor holds a PhD in Business Administration from John Molson School of Business Concordia University in Canada. His major focus was on Strategic Management and Management Policy, and minor area of focus was on Organizational Behavior. Dr. Adobor has received many honors and awards; he received a distinction for his dissertation which was nominated for Governor General of Canada’s Award of Excellence. Dr. Adobor has numerous distinguished publications covering several topics in Business Administration some of which have been accepted and distributed by the Harvard Business School Press. He has experiences in business and industry fields as well as academic work experience in the United States, Nigeria, Ghana, and Canada. 5 Special Edition His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor of ALHOSN University, was overwhelmed with happiness and pride with the graduation of the first batch of students. He is confident the graduates will show great responsibility toward their community conducted with confidence and professionalism, and he encourages the graduates to not stop here but to continue and aspire to achieve greater goals and ambitions. He urged them to climb the academic ladder and continue their education, to attain post-graduate degrees, pursue and accomplish higher academic careers to the fullest. Amani El-Abd Bachelor Degree Industrial Engineering I am very happy to be graduating with the first batch of graduating students from ALHOSN University. I am very honored to be the first female student to have graduated from the Industrial Engineering Department and encourage every female out there to enroll in this department as the demand for Industrial Engineers is growing in the job market. Reem Albaharna Master Degree Business Administration I’m excited to be graduating today among my fellow master degree colleagues from ALHOSN university. I consider this a great and positive step in the development and construction of our country and I aspire to play an active role in achieving that.
