4.4 Educational Programme
Study Trip to EU Institutions
Study trips are not regular programmes of the European
Values but are organized occasionally as a good follow up
to our regular programmes.
The study trip in 2007 was organized under the auspices
of Josef Zieleniec, MEP. The trip’s topics followed the
conference “Enlargement, Borders and Neighborhood of
the EU“. The participants (mainly students and interested
public) had an opportunity to discuss questions relating
to the enlargement and neighbourhood policy with
prominent personalities from European Commission
and European Parliament such as Michael Leigh, Director
General for Enlargement, Michael Gahler, MEP and
Vice-chairman of the Committee on Foreign Aff airs,
Rutger Wissels, Director European Neighborhood Policy
Coordination in the External Relations DG, and with
analytics from European Policy Centre.
Students also had the opportunity to observe the European
Parliament’s special plenary session, in which José Manuel
Barroso, the President of the European Commission, and
José Sócrates, the president of European Council, discussed
the results of the December EU summit.
