Welcome to the 2013 National Youth Ministry Convention
What a privilege we have to serve young people in ministry.
All the blood, sweat and tears become worth it when we see
just one young person grow forward in faith and life. But even
the most passionate youth ministry workers need time to rest,
be inspired and recharge.
The National Youth Ministry Convention is a four-day event
held on the tip of the beautiful Gold Coast. It will bring
together hundreds of delegates to learn from some of the
world’s most inspirational, challenging and practical speakers.
The 2013 NYMC will feature two professional development
seminars, four main sessions, and seven elective streams
featuring over thirty different speakers and more than forty
topics to choose from. And if that isn’t enough for you there
will be loads of time to connect with others through our
Ministry Lunches, access some of the most innovative
youth ministry resources at the NYMC 2013 Youth
Ministry Expo, and celebrate with other delegates at the
Australians ~ Together NYMC 2013 Convention Dinner.
You’re invited to join us for this fantastic time of learning,
equipping and networking. I hope to see you at the 2013

NYMC 2013 is a GST-free event as it is classified as a ‘religious service’ under the Commonwealth
Government’s GST Act. ABN 24 385 119 368 (Churches of Christ in Australia – Youth Vision Australia).
All payments are non-refundable but are transferable to other delegates or NYMC 2015.
Volunteers attend for free if working 8 hours per day. Please email admin@nymc.org.au to arrange.
Delegates are responsible for their own food and accommodation.

Bo Boshers (USA)
Bo is president of LEAD222 and is recognised as a national
leader and influencer of youth ministry around the world.
He served for 20 years as Executive Director of Student
Ministries at Willow Creek Community Church and the
Willow Creek Association USA.
Danielle Strickland (CAN)
Danielle is an internationally renowned speaker, justice
advocate, author and Salvation Army Officer. She leads the
Canadian arm of Stop The Traffik and is currently living out
a life of ministry in a marginalized community in Canada.
Phil Cann (UAE)
Phil is passionate about young people, the lost and life in
general. He has spoken to gatherings all over the world,
specialising in talking with youth and leaders, challenging
them to get real and walk out their faith practically. He has
had extensive ministries in the UK, and Canada, and is now
ministering in the Middle East.
Andy Hawthorne (UK)
Andy Hawthorne OBE is a British evangelist, author, renowned
speaker, and leader of the Christian mission organization ‘The
Message Trust’, which now impacts over 100,000 young
people each year.

Tim Hawkins (NSW): A world-renowned speaker and author, Tim is a 25 year
youth ministry veteran.
Jonathan Vanderberg (VIC): As CRCA youth director, Jonathan zig zags the nation,
training, speaking, mentoring and developing youth ministries.
Jon Owen (NSW): Jon is the Australian & Pacific Region Director of Urban Neighbours of
Hope (UNOH), an incarnational order serving the poor in Australia and overseas.
Dan Foster (QLD): Youth Pastor at Springwood Church of Christ, and founder of GENTS
camp, attracting 500 young men annually.
Melinda Tankard Reist (ACT): Author, speaker, media commentator, blogger and advocate
for women and girls.
Rowan Lewis (VIC): Lecturer for Youth Studies at Tabor College Victoria, Rowan is
committed to spiritual formation of young people.
Joel McKerrow (VIC): Writer, performance poet, sessional youth studies lecturer and
founder of ‘The Centre for Poetics and Justice’.
Penny Galbraith (VIC): Co-ordinator of Supervised Theological Field Education at Stirling
Theological College, Penny has a wealth of experience in training emerging youth leaders.
Trav Johnson (SA): Currently serving with Youth Ministries Australia, Trav has been a youth
pastor, a senior pastor, and then a youth pastor again.
Matt Fricker (WA): With 16 years as a youth pastor and school chaplain, Matt has a wealth
of experience when it comes to leading disciple-making ministries.
Kirrilee Smout (SA): Clinical psychologist, speaker & author who specializes in adolescence.
Linda White (VIC): Linda is a passionate communicator, writer, speaker, youth pastor and
chaplain, who currently serves as Dean of Studies at Access Ministries Training Institute.
Dave Miers (NSW): Youth Minister at St Faith’s Anglican Church in Narrabeen, Sydney,
Dave’s passion is preaching Jesus to the next generation.
Dan Lian (VIC): Passionate about Jesus Christ, Dan is a pastor, internationally acclaimed
speaker, evangelist and gospel ninja.
Adrian Blenkinsop (SA): Working for Bible Society Australia in youth ministry, Adrian
develops resources for Bible engagement, speaks at youth events, schools and camps.
Martin Thompson (QLD): Senior Youth Pastor of Churches of Christ in Queensland. Martin
is committed to inspiring, supporting & resourcing those engaged in youth ministry.
Ben Prescott (VIC): Evangelist and gifted preacher, Ben is Youth Pastor at Planetshakers
City Church in Melbourne.
Jono Green (VIC): As the Australian Youth Alpha National Coordinator, Jono is energized by
equipping the next generation share their faith with their peers.
Gary Grut (NZ): NZ Baptist Youth Ministry National Manager and former pro golfer, Gary is
passionate about developing and training young leaders.
Billy Williams (QLD): An amazing communicator, pastor at Bridgman Baptist and heads up
the Indigenous ministry at Dhiiyaan church and Jisas Wantaim.
Darryn Keneally (SA): Director & founder of In2Life Inc, Darryn is committed to reducing
the instances of youth self harm, drug use, offending & suicide in Australia.
Chris McCartney (BKK): Bangkok-based, Asia Director for Urban Neighbours of Hope (UNOH).
Jonathan Sargeant (QLD): A popular speaker and youth ministry trainer working with the
Anglican Diocese in Brisbane
Rodney Trinidad (NSW): Serving youth with the Billy Graham Association Australia, and as
Youth & School Relations Manager for Australia & NZ with Samaritan’s Purse.
Chad Miller (USA): Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries for BGEA International, a
gifted speaker who is passionate about the local church and youth ministries.
Stu Harris (QLD): A passionate communicator, with an extensive career in marketing with
Apple and now with Christian Vision, whose mission is to help Christians share their faith online

Mike Stevens (VIC): Youth Pastor at Crossway Church Melbourne, Mike is passionate about
coaching and developing leaders, and setting and building effective youth ministry culture.
