JhCK'S beat-up truck races across the bleak southern li'y0mi:g
landscape after passing e WELC3I.E TO THE COI.:BOY STATE sion.
A d2st devil travels across tie plains, just off of the
highway.
XE SEE JACK inside, happy, feeling like he could drive for
days and days without sleeping, sings slang with the ra2ic
playing Zatsy Clirie's "CRAZY". A POSTCARD rests on the
dashboard of the truck. JACK picks it up, looks at it agaln,
WE SEE what it says: "Divorce final. E.". JACK sings alcllg
with rhe music with exaggerated gestures, can't stor,
grinning.
EXT: DEL YIAR RANCH HOUSE: DAY: CONTINUOUS: 105
ENKIS seats ALI4.4 JR. and FWCINE inside his truck. Shcts
the passenger door and walks around to the driver's side,
just as JACK'S truck pulls into his driveway, blocking
ENKIS'S trcck.
ENXIS is surprised, puzzled as to why JACK is there, but 15
nonetheless--as alvays--thrilled to see him.
CACK gets Out of the trucZ. Walks Up to ENNIS, they h.Jg one
another mightily.

(genuinely surprised and happy)

JACK
(excited, holds up the
postcard )
Got your message 'bout the divorce.
ENAIS considers a moment--still doesn't understand.
JACK
