The power of love to combat tyranny and political oppression
has inspired freedom fighters the world over for many
centuries. John Cox revives his production (Garsington
Opera, 2009) of Beethoven’s only opera, Fidelio; one of the
most insightful and humane dramas in the repertoire.
Vert-Vert
Jacques Offenbach
Conductor David Parry Director Martin Duncan
A girl’s boarding school in Nevers, secret marriages and
a deceased parrot named Vert-Vert set the scene for
Offenbach’s witty and sophisticated opera. Martin Duncan
directs this comic masterpiece, full of mistaken identity and
turbulent emotion, to its joyous conclusion.
The Cunning Little Vixen
Leoš Janáček
Conductor Garry Walker Director Daniel Slater
Originally inspired by a newspaper comic strip, Janácek’s
enchanting work is rich in both humour and humanity.
Returning to Garsington Opera is director Daniel Slater
who will guide our Vixen through her encounters of danger,
mischief and love.

Having successfully moved to our new home at Wormsley we now have the opportunity to extend our season
and expand our repertoire, enabling us to accommodate more members. Therefore we are inviting new
members, when introduced by an existing member, to join us for the 2014 season without the need to go on
the waiting list.
Members of Garsington Opera are given priority booking, ensuring that they can book the seats they want on the
dates of their choice, as most performances sell out. They also enjoy a close relationship with the company with
opportunities to meet artists of distinction. As a privately funded charity, the festival is made possible through
the members’ loyal collective support. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Wormsley in 2014.
Ingrams Circle
£5,000 suggested donation
Members of the Ingrams Circle are offered priority
booking on up to 30 tickets to the operas and are given
the opportunity to meet the conductors, directors
and singers, and attend closed rehearsals.
Constellation of Garsington
£1,500 suggested donation
Members of the Constellation collectively sponsor
a production each year. They are offered priority
booking on up to 20 tickets to the operas and are
invited to meet the cast in advance of the season.
Patron
£500 suggested donation
Patrons are offered priority booking on up to 12
tickets over the season.
Special Friend
£175 suggested donation
Special Friends are offered priority booking on up to
8 tickets over the season.
Friend
£70 suggested donation
Friends are offered priority booking on up to 4 tickets
over the season.
The category of Affiliate Membership (£20 suggested donation) which normally forms our waiting list to become
Friends, will be reinstated next year.
