OCTA 6300
Providing a compact combination of signal quality and ease of environmentally harsh applications such as traffic
use, the OCTA 6350 can simultaneously transmit eight monitoring, incident management, video surveillance in city
camera signals with two audio, four data and two telemetry centres, airport security etc.
signals over one single-mode optical fiber. Uncompressed
10-bit digitizing, oversampling and digital filtering ensure a The OCTA 6350 comes as a twin Eurocard cassette, suitable
very high transmission performance of the video channels, for an MC 11 power-supply cabinet, or as a stand-alone unit
exceeding the requirements of the EIA RS-250C short haul (/SA version). LED indicators provide an instant overview of
concept for all our video, audio and data communications
equipment. This concept is a logical next step based on our As standard, every module is equipped with a microcontroller,
experience in network management and fault detection. which measures all in- and outgoing signals, supplies
voltages, internal settings and internal temperatures. Module
Availability
The availability of the complete connection is becoming
increasingly important, especially for mission critical
applications. In addition, tendencies to outsource networks to
operators who are paid by the up-time and the quality of a
service, call for remote monitoring of availability. With SNM,
you manage any connection in the network, both trunk and
access.
Inventory management
Each Optelecom-NKF module has a unique module identity
code (MID). In addition, they hold information such as Module
Description, Serial Number, User Labels and Firmware Version.
The User Labels offer the customer the possibility to add a user
defined address and/or description to a module. All these are
useful in inventory management: keeping track of every
component in the network.
Integral management
All Optelecom-NKF modules have built-in support for SNM:
those for simple point-to-point video links as well as those for
sophisticated drop and insert multiplexers. Providing integral
management and full control of both trunk and access.
86 www.optelecom-nkf.com
Smart Network Management
Simplified installation and servicing
For configuration purposes, modules can be accessed locally,
e.g. with a laptop, setting initial adjustments and operation
modes. In addition, SNM offers measurements for testing
and commissioning. During operation, service personnel may
access the modules without disconnecting them from the
management system, thus saving costly test equipment.
SNM requires no manual settings (Plug-and-Play). All
modules are automatically detected and identified. A special
'Hot-Swap' feature automatically reconfigures a replacement
module, reducing the system's downtime and relieving the
engineer of time-consuming reconfiguration.
Fast implementation
As standard, all our modules are fitted with SNM.
No additional equipment is necessary. Implementing SNM is
therefore fast and simple, and needs very little additional
investment.
