Page 16 FULLERTON OBSERVER Lee Foster of Placentia died on January 27 at the age of 67 due to complications from heart failure. Lee was raised in DuBois, Pennsylvania, graduated from Grove City College, and retired in 2004 as a sales manager for Bayer. A loving father and friend, Lee is survived by his two children, Mike Foster of Irvine and Kate Foster Lengyel of New York. A memorial service was held on February 1 at McAulay & Wallace Mortuary in Fullerton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association. Susan (Tavajian) Jebejian March 17, 1917 – February 1, 2011 Susan Jebejian passed away peacefully February 1, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Larry), son, Richard (Barbara), six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Susan, Peggy, Jimmy, Elizabeth, Dickran, and 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Katelyn, Taylor, Clay, Logan, Mollie, Alyssa, Tyler, Trevor, Ellie and Delaney. Her beloved husband, Dick preceded her in death in 1986. In addition to her immediate family, Susan leaves a loving family of nieces and nephews. Susan was born in Istanbul, Turkey and immigrated with her family to the United States in 1921. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Los Angeles, California in 1936. Susan and Dick were instrumental in the planning and building of the Ararat Home for the Armenian Aged located in Mission Hills. She served as President and Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Home. She took great pride in the Home and the contributions of service and dedication the Jebejian family made to it. Susan was an active member of the St. James Armenian Apostolic Church in Los Angeles. She loved to cook and was happy to volunteer her talents to the Ladies Aide Society’s kitchen crew. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved family gatherings, especially at her home on Melrose Hill. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts and memories of all who Lee Wayne Foster June 23, 1943 - January 27, 2011 knew this gracious, loving and dignified lady. Services were held on February 5, 2011 in the Chapel at the Ararat Home of Los Angeles, 15105 Mission Hills Road, Mission Hills, CA 91345-1103. Slauson, Los Angeles, CA 90056 Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, 6400 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068 Bruce Brown Butler Bruce Brown Butler, 90, was born July 9, 1920, in Fullerton. He passed away December 25, 2010. Bruce grew up on a citrus ranch in La Habra. Growing citrus fruit and drinking a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice became one of his life-long passions. He graduated from Whittier College and USC (MBA) and married the love of his life, Clare (Griggs) Butler. They were married for 62 years and she preceded him in death. He continued through life with a broken heart, after her passing. He spent his life in service to others as a lieutenant in the US Navy during World War II, and as the Assistant Superintendent of Business for the Norwalk-La Mirada School District for 40 years. He also served on the school board after his retirement. He enjoyed golfing and gardening, and won multiple awards for landscaping in the city of La Mirada. He went to be with Jesus on Christmas morning and was reunited with his wife, Clare, and daughter, Anne Butler Schoene, in heaven. Bruce is survived by his son, Mark Butler; daughter-in-law, Carol Butler; granddaughters, Cortney (Butler) Pefia, Brooke Butler- Angaga, Clare Schoene, and Elizabeth Schoene; great grandchildren, Daynee Pefia and Corson Pena; and many nieces and beloved friends. Children and Visitors Always Welcome! • THURSDAYS: 10am • SUNDAYS: 8am & 10am (Nursery & Church School) Mary Francis Rochester, 92, a 45 year resident of Fullerton, passed away on January 21, 2011 at Anaheim Memorial Hospital in Anaheim after a sustained period of illness. She is survived by her sons, Michael Samuels (wife Beatriz); Harold Rochester (wife Margarite); and Paul Rochester (wife Jaqueline), 10 grandchildren (Fylicia, Louis, Rochelle, Danielle, Tasha, Harold Jr., Johnny, Aaliyah, Alexis and Christian), 5 greatgrandchildren (Akeyl, N'Kyla, Mary, Benjamin and Khalyd), a niece (Trisha) and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, all three siblings, her husband and her beloved daughter, Alice. Mary was born in the state of Louisianna, but resided much of her life in Port Author, Texas before relocating to California with her husband, Doris Rochester and four children. Over the years, Mary worked as a seamstress, a factory worker and a retail clerk in the old Montgomery Ward's. She was known as a hard worker with a humble heart. She was an excellent seamstress and often made clothes for her children. Mary was a gentle spirit who kept God first in her life and this showed in her devotion to her family, friends and her church, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fullerton. She was so dedicated to her faith that even after her husband passed and her children moved away, she would walk to church in time for the early morning mass on Sundays. Poppy, may you be looking into the eyes of the Savior and hearing the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." A celebration of his life was held on February 12th at Rose Drive Friends Church in Yorba Linda. CHAPMAN AVE, FULLERTON • 714.870.4350 www.saintandrewsfullerton.org Mary Francis Rochester MID FEBRUARY 2011 Mary was a great cook and always had an extra plate of food for the frequent family friends that would stop by to visit her. She was an amazing grandmother, doting on her grandchildren with her warmth and solid presence. She was small in stature, but large in heart. She had a kind and encouraging word to all who crossed her path. Her departure leaves a void in all who knew and loved her; and though we mourn her absence, we rejoice that she is no longer in a pain. We take comfort in knowing that Heaven has welcomed one of its most beloved Angels. Services were held on February 2nd at McAulay & Wallace in Fullerton and a funeral mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on February 3rd. Internment followed at Loma Vista Memorial Park. Happy Birthday Maddox Maddox's 1-year-old birthday weekend included opening gifts, eating a little cake and fruit, and going to the beach with mom and grandpa and grandma. It was a little chilly, but he loved the ocean. Happy 100th Birthday Jean! Vibrant Jean Gaster of Fullerton is turning 100 years old on March 6th. A birthday celebration will be held at noon on March 4th at the Cambridge Court dining room located at 1621 E. Chapman in Fullerton. Jean’s closest friends, community members, and staff will be in attendance. Before moving to Cambridge Court, Jean led a very interesting life. She was a professional dancer, a set designer for Universal Studios, a volunteer nurse, a songwriter, and a pie shop owner! Jean has been fortunate to meet several wonderful individuals like Ronald Reagan, Bob Hope, and Charlie Chaplin. She was married to her husband William Mckinly Gaster for over 40 years. He was the private attorney for Mr. Knudson of Knudson Creamery. Jean is as vivacious as ever and a very active member of the community.
