MID FEBRUARY 2011
Fullerton Library Foundation Fundraiser
One hundred and fortyseven
people enjoyed a delicious
lunch and a presentation
by T. Jefferson Parker, the
author of 17 best-selling crime
novels. He told the interested
audience about how he wrote
his first book, “Laguna Heat.”
Five years and five drafts later,
the book was published - the
rest is history. Parker also
shared his latest book, “The
Border Lords” which came out
a few weeks ago. The co-chairs
of the luncheon, Joan Mears
and Babette Carlson, did a
wonderful job planning and
organizing the event. The
$5,100 raised by the event will
go to funding furniture, fixtures,
and equipment for the
library expansion.
Fullerton Sunrise
Rotary recently made a
donation of $7,600 to
the Fullerton Public
Library for the new
Teen Center portion of
the library expansion.
Fullerton Street Division
worker Andrew Hernandez
carefully digs up the individual
concrete tiles that commemorate
those who have supported
the Fullerton Boys and Girls
Club. Some of these tiles have
been in place for over fifty
years. The tiles will be secured
in a hanger at the Fullerton airport
while the existing building
is torn down to make room for
the new Community Center.
The tiles will be reset in their
new home.
