The “<strong>SPEED</strong> <strong>SHOE</strong>” is designed as an aid to driving pipe through hard<br />
consolidated sand layers with AMAZING results. The leading edge<br />
of the “<strong>SPEED</strong> <strong>SHOE</strong>” is serrated to chip away the consolidated sand<br />
to ease driving. Frank’s has found that the “Speed Shoe” not only<br />
drives faster, but takes less blows per foot and achieves more penetration<br />
than the standard shoe. The chart below shows two drive<br />
jobs driven off the same platform in the Gulf of Mexico. Both were<br />
30” pipe driven with the same D-62 hammer. Note the difference<br />
not only in the total penetration, but the blows per foot taken to<br />
drive each string.<br />
