Transfers Made Easy
How to Quickly and Easily Make Your
Connecting Flight at Frankfurt Airport
Transferring the Easy Way
If you’re transferring at Frankfurt Airport, relax – you’re in good
hands. Begin by checking one of the flight arrival/departure
boards or monitors to see what gate your flight leaves from and
other important information, then follow the signs to get to it.
If you already have a valid boarding pass
for your connecting flight:
Go straight to the gate. In most cases, your bags will be
automatically routed through to your final destination. In case
of doubt, inquire when checking in at your point of origin. If the
departure gate is not indicated on your boarding pass, consult
the monitor screens. Then follow the blue signs.
If you don’t have a boarding pass yet:
Please check in at a transfer counter in the transit area or
go straight to your gate. In most cases, your bags will be
automatically routed through to your final destination. In case
of doubt, inquire when checking in at your point of origin.
SkyLine Train
The SkyLine train runs between Terminals 1 and 2, leaving
every 2 to 3 minutes.
Stops: Terminal 1 A, Terminal 1 B, and Terminal 2
between Concourses D and E
E-Shuttle Service/Terminal Express
If you need to go a long way, look for one of the blue-and-white
Terminal Express cars that serve the entire transit zone. You can ride
them free of charge.
Fast Lanes for Short Transfer Times
If you have less than 30 minutes to get to your connecting flight,
you may use the fast lane at the security checkpoint. Please make
sure to check the monitor screens for information on your flight.
Tip: Service Guides
You’ll find our mobile service guides all around the terminals
– you can recognize them by their red jackets. If you have
questions or require assistance, they will be glad to help you.
Explore to Your Heart’s Content and Take
Advantage of Our Many Service Offerings
A World of Shopping and Experiences
The airport’s international flair, broad yet exclusive range of
brands and products, and huge variety of culinary offerings
all invite you to shop and spend time in over 250 stores and
restaurants. Here you’ll find specials that are unique to Frankfurt
Airport or Germany. Spend your wait in a pleasant atmosphere
– in many cases with a breathtaking view of the airfield. Or if
you’d like to relax after a long flight, you can get a massage in
the spa and recharge your batteries for the rest of your journey.
This guide shows you the services you can discover and take
advantage of near your arrival and departure gates.
Attractive Duty Free Prices
Reward yourself by making some purchases in one of the many
Duty Free shops. Perhaps you’d like a bottle of your favorite
perfume, products from a leading cosmetics brand, a premium
whiskey, or a few typical German souvenirs; no trip is complete
without a visit to a Duty Free or Travel Value shop. It pays off,
too – duty-free prices are guaranteed on all new and classic
products. You can also purchase liquids and carry them on
board without problem.
Tip: Special Offers
The special offers let you save another 30 % off the duty-free price!
Easy VAT Refunds
If you are leaving the European Union and live outside it, you
are entitled to a refund on the value-added tax paid on all
merchandise purchased within the EU. Please note that you must
request a tax refund check when buying items.
For merchandise you carry on board:
On the way to your gate, please stop at the customs office after
the passport check. After obtaining the required customs stamp
there, you can get your VAT refund (minus a service fee) a few
steps further at Global Blue, TaxFreeWorldwide, or Premier
Tax Free (at the money changing counters of Travelex and
International Currency Exchange).
For merchandise in your checked luggage:
When checking in at your airline’s counter, let the staff know
that you need an export confirmation slip from customs for
items packed in your luggage. Your bags are then tagged and
you can show them to customs later.
Once you have obtained the customs stamp, your luggage is
automatically routed to your flight. On the way to your gate,
you can then collect your VAT refund (minus a service fee) from
Global Blue, TaxFreeWorldwide, or Premier Tax Free (at the
money changing counters of Travelex and International
Currency Exchange).
