BACK TO AFRICA QUEST IN CONGRESS
At the request of "African-American
Repatriation Association'', a
Philadelphia b a s e d Organization,
Representative Robert N. C. Nix,
an African-1~merican submitted "Bill
H R 896" in Congress. The Bill requests
the enactment of legislation
that will provide assistance to those
citizens of African descent who desire
to move to Africa to live.

Unfinished Business of
Long Standing
The present move is the extension
of a chain of efforts on the part of
these people to return to the land of
their origin . It began a wav back
in 1619 when the. "Good Ship ~Jesns"
dropped them off at Jamestawn, ~'irginia.
And the wisdom of returning
them was before the American peo-~
ple since Thomas Jefferson to the
present .
Under President James 1flonroe
however an opening was made that
culminated in the establishment of
Liberia but was pramptly terminated
far motives revealed to have been
ulterior in nature. As a result of
the stoppage, frustration and dissatisfaction
developed and continued, and
have been plaglzing America since
then.
To pacify and to contain the Africans'
demands many strange and
awkward suggestions were made .
Same would have sent the Africans
to Haiti, to Central America, to
Alaska, the Indies and every other
place under the. sun except to Africa,
the land from which they were taken
and the land to which they have been
battling to return, a strange paradox
and provocative at that .
