Calendars now on sale
Profits from the women firefighters’
fund-raising calendar
this year go to CanTeen, the
charity supporting young people
affected by cancer.

Nolan says this year they have a strong
community focus. Photos include those of a
fire fighting husband and wife from Waikanae
and young cancer survivors who are helping
raise funds for CanTeen.
“We also have photographs of a police officer,
an artist, a store manager, nurse, paramedic,
postie, student, and many of them are also
raising children. They are all are busy with their
own lives but turn out when the siren or pager
goes,” she said.
The women in the calendar will have calendars
to sell and orders can also be taken through
firelady-calendar@hotmail.com. You can also
visit their Facebook site (NZ Female Firefighter
Calendar) to get a preview of the calendar.
Meanwhile, the production of the male
Firefighters Calendar caused a stir on the new
Fire Service Facebook page.
Photos of the 12 men chosen to feature were
posted and our Facebook ‘fans’ voted on who
should feature on the cover. There were
thousands of votes and Adam Gudsell from
Nelson’s Blue Watch made the cut by a
narrow margin.
Once again the calendar will be sold out in the
streets by firefighters and online through
the website www.firemanscalendar.co.nz
The calendar sales raise funds for firefighters
to travel to international competitions,
particularly to the World Firefighters Games.
Proceeds are also donated to the Child
Cancer Foundation.
