PureCell 200
Heat and Power Solution.
The PureCell 200 solution is a clean, efficient, reliable
fuel cell power plant. It produces 200 kilowatts of assured
power plus up to 925,000 Btu/hour of heat for cogeneration
applications.
Proven technology
As of July 2005, the PureCell 200 solution fleet of commercial
fuel cells has accumulated more than seven
million hours of operational experience. More than 275
PureCell solutions have been sold in 19 countries on five
continents. The system powers schools, high-rise office
buildings, hospitals, and manufacturing sites.
Assured power
The standard PureCell 200 system is a grid-connected
unit, operating in parallel with electric utilities. You can
also choose a dual-mode configuration which enables the
unit to operate grid-connect or grid-independent –
switching between modes automatically or on command.
With dual mode configuration your power stays on even
when the grid goes down.
Environmentally sound design
Fuel cells represent one of the cleanest power generating
technologies available today. PureCell 200 systems
operate well below air emission standards in every state.
In fact, in California, the PureCell 200 solution meets the
strictest emissions requirements as established by the
California Air Resources Board (CARB) 2007. Add in its
quiet noise profile, and the PureCell solution is a welcome
power alternative anywhere – indoors or outdoors,
in cramped cities or quiet rural neighborhoods. Clean, efficient,
reliable, secure and quiet – the PureCell 200
power system is the ultimate solution.
PureCell 200 Power System
PureCell Solutions Feature:
▼ Reliable power – Generates assured computer-grade
power for a range of on-site power needs.
▼ Flexible siting – With indoor and outdoor installation
options, the PureCell 200 system connects easily with city
gas and electrical distribution systems.
▼ Scalable design – Factory assembled 200 kW modules
operate in parallel to meet any electrical load requirements –
simply add more units if your needs change.
▼ Clean energy – Producing no harmful fumes or exhaust,
the PureCell 200 system is virtually pollution free and
meets or exceeds air emissions standards throughout
the United States (CARB 07).
▼ Low sound profile – The PureCell 200 system’s low
noise profile (60 dbA@30 ft.) eliminates the need for
sound proofing or hearing protection.
▼ Remote monitoring – Remote monitoring and diagnostics
allow for early fault detection and real-time trouble shooting.
PureCell Heat & Power Solution
By the time grid-supplied power reaches you, much of the
fuel’s original energy has been lost – but not its cost. You pay
the utility for the lost energy anyway.
PureCell systems are more than twice as efficient as the
electrical grid. So you get double the energy from the same
amount of fuel – instant efficiency and savings.
First, there are no transmission losses. Energy is created
right where it’s used – inside your building. Second, and more
importantly, waste heat is captured to generate additional useable
energy for heating or cooling. The conversion of fuel to
useable energy is more complete, which translates to higher
efficiency. The process is cleaner, more reliable, and makes
better use of natural gas fuel. The bottom line? Continuous
savings – for you and for the environment.
Lower costs to the end-user
By recovering and using waste heat, cogeneration systems release, on average, 20% of energy as heat to the atmosphere, while the remaining 80% is
converted to electricity, steam/hot water and chilled water, depending on the system.
Alternative Fuel Experience.
Free fuel. That’s what anaerobic digester gas (ADG) is for UTC Power’s
PureCell 200 solution. ADG is a by-product of the wastewater treatment
process containing methane, considered one of the single most-harmful
greenhouse gases. UTC Power fuel cells currently generate 2.8
Megawatts of premium quality power using this fuel. That equates to over
6 million Kilowatt hours of experience, so you can rest assured our product
is proven in this application. In addition, the PureCell 200 power
solution is the only ADG fuel cell verification tested by the EPA through its
strict Environmental Technology Verification program. More proof it will
operate effectively on your ADG site. And that’s good for the environment.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bronx, New York, powers
three PureCell 200 solutions. Collectively these units
save New York City about 9,000 barrels of oil annually, in
addition to providing other environmental benefits.
