Our Customers and their applications
Small and medium-sized companies or large
international groups specializing in the manufacturing
of industrial cutting tools for sectors like automotive,
aeronautics, energy and their subcontractors. Our
bars are designed for the production of drills, step
drills, milling cutters, taps and dies and various high
performance special tools referred to as «coolant fed»
tools, i.e. allowing the internal circulation of cutting
fluid or a lubricating mist.
Our industrial partners
Among Forécreu’s privileged partners are Erasteel
(high-speed steel production) and Böhler with
which it operates on a close basis of industrial ,
technical and commercial cooperation
(development of steels by powder metallurgy,
extrusion of composite materials etc.).
Forécreu also maintains close relations with other
leading participants in their respective fields (Aubert
& Duval for stainless steels and special alloys, Timet
for titanium alloys.
Finally, the Forécreu Group works
with other partners as part of its
research and development
program (ASTM,Government R&D
Partners, Public Institutes, Materials
Forum).
Introduction
sales offices.
• in the United States and Japan: local subsidiaries
with inventory.
• in Brazil , China and India, and other countries:
through local or direct agents.
The rest of the world market is served from our
company head office at Meudon (Paris area).
Since its founding, Forécreu has maintained strong
export activities. All our international addresses are
available on our Internet site at www.forecreu.com
under CONTACT.
Our processes
Our main industrial sites are in the Allier region
(central France) and handle most operations from
design to finish.
Our industrial experience includes forging, rolling,
extrusion, hot and cold processing (drawing) as well as
many finishing or product customization operations
(cutting, grinding,...).
The quality of our processes goes hand in hand with
controls (suppliers’ audit, ultrasonic control,
metallurgical testing in workshop and laboratory,
mechanical tests). It is covered by ISO 9000
certification and meets the requirements of standard
ISO 14000.
Hollow bars with one or several holes
for industrial applications
Our hollow bars can be used as
components to replace drilled or
bored parts in particular for long
pieces. There are many potential
applications: cannulated screws and
parts, pump housings, machine
tool components, wire guides, pins,
mandrels. .
Other applications to tooling concern stamping
tools, punches, tubular ejectors, plastic extrusion pins,
tool-holders, etc.
High pressure and hydraulics
Our hollow bars are used as very thick wall tubes
capable of taking up extreme pressure and
envir onmental conditions (pr obes for tube
hydroforming, HP hydraulics, transport of corrosive
liquids, probes or bodies for fluid passage, optical
fibers or cabling, injection parts, etc.).
Many applications are found, for instance in
aeronautics, automotive, chemical, nuclear,
chemistry or agro-food industries..
TECHNICAL INFORMATION ABOUT TWISTING
Twisting/lead tolerance:
The maximum warping of bars with several straight holes is 15°/ meter.
The average lead tolerance for twisted bars: +/- 0.8% of nominal lead length, and for a total of 5 lead units
(no cumulative effect). In other words, this tolerance represents a maximum deviation of +/- 15° for a total of
5 lead lengths. It is compatible with the production of helical tools. For particularly long tools (more than 5
accumulated lead lengths), it is nevertheless important to accurately index the flute grinding of the blanks from
the tool tip.
+/- 15’after 5 lead lengths
1 lead length
N.B.: We can twist the bars clockwise or counterclockwise to your requirement. The standard twist is clockwise
and will be applied by default to all received orders.
Guide in twist /angle / lead (helix):
By convention, a lead refers to a length in millimeters, corresponding to the total length for one complete
revolution of the lubrication channel (see illustration above). The helix, on the other hand, corresponds to an
angle given in degrees with reference to the finished tool helix.
The lead, by convention, measures the length, in mm of a complete revolution of coolant holes along the bar. Its
value does not depend on the diameter of the bar. The helix, on the other hand, has to be associated with a
specific diameter, as its value varies with it. Hence, the lead length is a fixed and unequivocal data. You will find
this value on all our technical documents and certificates.
The following formula is used to convert a lead into a helix according to the diameter
Tan α =
π x ∅d
L
α is the angle in degrees (°),
∅d the outside diameter of the cutting part in mm,
L is the length of the lead in mm
This is an important issue because it may influence the products you order. Do not order an oversized coolant fed
bar with the same helix as your finished tool. For that reason, when placing an order, please indicate the lead
length in mm that corresponds to the helix of your finished tool.
E.g.: to produce a 30° drill, the cutting part of which has a diameter of 12 mm, the lead needed will be 65.3
mm. Therefore, this 65.3 mm lead should be ordered for material delivered at 12.3 mm from which the
tool will be produced.
