Training Centre
Designs for the second stage of the National Training
Centre are now well advanced with the project team
nearing the point where they will seek resource consents.
“We are on track to start building
late this year, all going well,” said
Director Operations and Training
Paul McGill.
Stage 2 includes a streetscape to give
firefighters a feel for working in
everything from a shop to a bank,
a three-storey tower block, a town
house and a house with garage and
sleepouts. A separate area will
house a train and tunnel scenario.

The three-storey tower can also be
configured using gantries to simulate
a ship or a rest home or other similar
buildings.
There will also be a motorway and
a separate motor vehicle crash area.
The plans also include extending
the current burn building and
administration block.
