Study programme:<br />

The ESADE MBA takes a globalist approach and is Bilingual. In the<br />

Electives year, participants can choose from any <strong>of</strong> the 2nd year level<br />

coursework, mostly in English. Additionally, participants who choose to<br />

take Doing Business in Spanish will partake in a highly-participative<br />

language course focused on <strong>business</strong> language and presentation skills<br />

taught entirely in Spanish.<br />

Faculties/Colleges: <strong>University</strong>. Law School. Executive Language Centre. Executive Education.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Master’s Programs. (Marketing, Finance, Operations, Public<br />

Administration, Tourism, etc.)<br />

Language <strong>of</strong> Instruction: Mainly English<br />

Language requirement: Admission to the Full-Time MBA requires demonstration <strong>of</strong> English<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>iciency, TOEFL or similar. There is no Spanish requirement for<br />

exchange students.<br />

Language courses: DBS - Doing Business in Spanish based on availability.<br />

Academic/Experience<br />

Requirements:<br />

Applicants must be MBA and have completed core coursework<br />

successfully to enrol in elective classes. Minimum 2 years relevant work<br />

experience.<br />

Full-time Workload: Please note that the courseload for exchange students is between 3-5<br />

elective courses, with the normal workload being 4. It will not be<br />

possible to take a courseload outside this range. Exchange students<br />

will choose electives through a bidding system and changes to courses are<br />

not permitted once the bidding system application has closed. We ask that


partner <strong>school</strong>s requiring that their students bid for certain courses<br />

approve these requests before bidding takes place.<br />

If exchange students wish to take Doing Business in Spanish (DBS) as<br />

part <strong>of</strong> this workload, partner <strong>school</strong>s should approve this before bidding<br />

takes place. DBS is a language course and not an MBA elective.<br />

Learning Expectations: ESADE MBA courses are highly participative. Some classes are casestudy<br />

based, others on quantitative models, etc. The overall philosophy is<br />

cooperative and team-work oriented.<br />

Grading: The grading system is on a scale <strong>of</strong> 0 to 10 points, in the following order:<br />

From 9,0 to 10 Excellent<br />

From 7,0 to 8,9 Distinction<br />

From 5,0 to 6,9 Pass<br />

From 0 to 4,9 Fail<br />

NP Incomplete<br />

Official Transcripts are sent directly to coordinators.<br />

If a student fails a class, it is his / her responsibility to contact the pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

to make up the coursework.<br />

Exams: Exams are mainly written but not all courses have final exams. Some<br />

require a paper, individual or group work, presentations etc.<br />

A welcome lunch for everyone will take place the last week <strong>of</strong><br />

September with separate IT info sessions each week for students<br />

arriving earlier in September.<br />

Registration in April.<br />

Winter <strong>2012</strong> January 9 th to March 23 rd (approx)<br />

Orientation and Exams included.<br />

Orientation the first week <strong>of</strong> term, date tbc.<br />

Registration to be completed by the end <strong>of</strong> October.<br />

ESADE does not have on campus housing.<br />

Other Expenses: Health insurance varies by company. The avg. is 45 euros / month.<br />

Public language courses vary in duration and cost<br />

Local Transportation – bus pass (good for metro, bus, and local train<br />

stops) 10 trips approx. 7 euros<br />

Health insurance: It is mandatory that exchange participants must arrive with their<br />

own health insurance that covers accidents, hospital, and<br />

repatriation costs.<br />

Visa: ESADE is required by the Spanish Government to include the city name<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Embassy / Consulate. Students should contact the agency where<br />

they plan to process their visas for the most updated information.<br />

Facilities: Participants have access to the library, computer room, and computer<br />

assistance. They can loan a LAN card with a 45 euro refundable<br />

deposit upon return <strong>of</strong> the card in good working condition.


Student Services: MBASA (ESADE MBA Students Association) is a student-run<br />

organisation dedicated to making the student transition and stay<br />

enjoyable. In addition to matching you with a “Buddy”, the association<br />

oversees various clubs such as, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing,<br />
