Amelia Taylor King died "soon after the birth of a child (of inflamation in the bowels) aged 33" according to the
records of her church, entered by her pastor . The Enfield Town record of her death, submitted by a doctor, lists
her death as due to "child-bed fever." The incidence of child-bed fever dropped dramati cally in succeeding years
as medical practice required doctors and midwives to wash their hands and their instruments before dealing with
patients.
Amelia' s newborn child, a daughter, was given her mother's name.[2836643.FTW]
