Terje Boye Hansen’s musical education has been for the bassoon, teaching and conducting.<br />

In 1968, after his studies, he was engaged as a bassoon player by The Norwegian<br />

Opera, and held the position of principal since 1980. During this time he also conducted<br />

extensively in Norway and abroad. After a short time as freelance, he was in 1992 reengaged<br />

by The Norwegian Opera, this time as chief conductor for the touring department.<br />

Terje Boye Hansen’s repertoire includes more than 40 operas and operettas plus a great<br />

many ballets. For instance: Carmen, Hansel and Gretel, La Traviata, Rigoletto, La Boheme,<br />

Madam Butterfly, Tosca, The Magic flute, Cosi fan tutte, Figaro’s wedding, Don Giovanni, The<br />

Firebird, The Rite of Spring, Swan Lake, Romeo and Julie e.t.c. Boye Hansen has also conducted<br />

a great number of symphony orchestras and has worked for radio and television. He has<br />

conducted in Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy, England and South-Afrika. In<br />

Norway he visits all the main orchestras.<br />

The last 10 years he has worked with old, forgotten Norwegian music. This interest has<br />

led to concerts and CD recordings. Among these are <strong>Hjalmar</strong> Borgstrøm’s two operas<br />

Thora paa Rimol and Der Fischer.Edvard Fliflet Bræin’s Anne Pedersdotter, Geirr Tveitt’s Jeppe<br />

and Egil Hovland’s Fange og fri is also on his repertoire of Norwegian operas.<br />
