The proceedings of the first WTO International<br />
Conference on Climate Change and <strong>Tourism</strong>, held in<br />
Djerba, Tunisia in April 2003. The report contains the<br />
main conclusions and agenda for action derived from<br />
the Conference, as well as the Djerba Declaration on<br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> and Climate Change, a WTO background<br />
paper, a list of presentations and a summary of the<br />
sessions and discussions held. Topics covered include<br />
the current scientific thinking on the subject; details<br />
of the activities of organisations acting in this field; the<br />
impact of climate change on the tourism industry; case<br />
studies from around the world detailing the impact of<br />
climate change on a variety of tourism activities and in<br />

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change<br />
(IP<strong>CC</strong>) was established in 1988 by the World<br />
Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United<br />
Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in order to<br />
assess the available scientific, technical, and socioeconomic<br />
information in the field of climate change.<br />
The IP<strong>CC</strong> is organised into three main working groups:<br />
working group I concentrates on the physical science<br />
basis; working group II on impacts, adaptation and<br />
vulnerability; working group III on mitigation of climate<br />
change. The site provides information on each of the<br />
working groups, including their remit, structure and<br />
future activities; access to the four Assessment Reports;<br />
technical papers and other documents.<br />

OPEC’s mission is to coordinate and unify the petroleum<br />
policies of Member Countries and ensure the stabilization<br />
of oil markets in order to secure an efficient, economic<br />
and regular supply of petroleum to consumers, a steady<br />
income to producers and a fair return on capital to those<br />
investing in the petroleum industry. It is thus a key player<br />
in issues relating to transport and for example releases a<br />
monthly oil market report which is useful reading.<br />
