“General Dynamics Itronix has introduced a
new, patent-pending touchscreen display
technology along with two new laptops.”
DynaVue is noteworthy because it
doesn’t simply crank up the brightness.
Instead, it uses light-filtering technology
to balance brightness with the contrast
ratio, which helps eliminate internal
reflections that can interfere with clarity.
The first new laptop the company is
announcing is the semirugged GoBook VR-2,
which features a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo
processor, external antenna connections and
a built-in Global Positioning System.
The second new laptop is the GoBook MR-1,
an ultramobile rugged laptop weighing just two
pounds. The unit is small enough to fit into the
side pockets on cargo pants, yet it runs the full
Microsoft Windows XP Pro operating system
and applications rather than mobile versions.
Ben Thacker, vice president of
strategic marketing for General
Dynamics Itronix, told HSToday.us:
"The GoBook VR-2 is equipped
with a 13.3-inch DynaVue touch
screen display. For the majority
of customers that do use a
semi-rugged notebook, one of
their main requirements in this
category is to have a sunlightreadable
display outdoors and a
touch screen. We think we
nailed it with our DynaVue touch
screen technology."
NETWORK WORLD
“The results are dramatic. “
“Itronix engineers, drawing on the cockpitdisplay
expertise of General Dynamics’
Gulfstream jet aircraft unit, used polarizing
technologies and “index-matching” films
between the layers of the touch screen. Index
matching is a way of reducing ambient-light
reflections and increasing brightness. The
result, Thacker says, is a display that’s easily
viewable outdoors and can even be viewed
with sunglasses.
