TaskStream
We are excited to share with you a program tool that students and faculty will have opportunity
to use throughout the course of their teacher education programs. The School of Education at
GFU has adopted TaskStream, an e-portfolio system, that will be utilized during each term of a
student’s program.
Electronic Portfolios are web-based applications which allow students and faculty to store, share,
and publish work for various audiences – including each other. In addition to these standard
e-portfolio features, TaskStream also has a rich set of instructional design tools for educators to
collaboratively develop standards-based curriculum and has a built-in assessment management
system for our degree program.
Continuous enrollment in TaskStream is a program requirement for all School of
Education students at George Fox University.
TaskStream is a resource for class just like a book. But unlike books where you have to buy new
ones each semester, you just have to purchase your TaskStream account once! Rates and length of
subscription are as follows:
1 Semester 1 Year 2 Years 3 Years 4 Years 5 Years 6 Years
$25 $42 $69 $91 $105 $119 $129
You are required to purchase your account within the first two weeks
of your course or term. Go to www.taskstream.com or check with
your assigned advisor.
General Course Information
Course Evaluations
Your instructor will inform you if the course you are taking with him/her is due for
evaluation. He/she will give you directions for completion.
Course Assignments
Instructors typically return assignments directly to students before the conclusion of class.
However, sometimes the class ends before the instructor is able to do this. In such cases,
instructors will deliver assignments to the EDFL Administrative Assistant’s office. They
will be mailed to the student after removing binders and heavy cover materials that would
cause excess postage costs.
Emailing assignments
When emailing your assignments to your instructors, please ensure they are either created
in or saved as Microsoft Word documents so that your work can be easily opened for
grading.
Applying for your degree
When you are at least one semester away from completing your degree you must make
application for your degree through the registrar’s office.
Failure to complete this application can result in a delay in receiving your degree. This
can have serious consequences for you if your job is dependant upon completing your
degree.
The form is located online on the Registrar’s Office website:
http://www.georgefox.edu/offices/registrar
Getting Licensed
When you are ready to apply for your license (teaching or administrative), you should
contact the Teachers Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) to find out what your
specific requirements are.
Generally speaking, TSPC will require you to fill out an application form (C-1 form,
available on the TSPC website) and submit it along with your application fee, original test
scores and official transcripts. Make sure that your paperwork is complete; TSPC will
NOT process your application until they have all of the required components.
In addition, in order to have George Fox University recommend you for a license, you
need to complete the License Recommendation Request form (available from your
advisor or Julie Green) and send it to the EDFL Office along with original copies of any
relevant test scores (if you have not already had them sent.) Your file is then audited, the
appropriate program director validates its completion, and then the form is submitted to
TSPC online on your behalf.
TSPC will issue your new license (subject to their final approval) within a few weeks by
mail.
For administrative licensure and added teaching endorsement/authorization
recommendations, please mail or fax your License Recommendation form to:
