and incredibly accomplished musicians from<br />

Norway – Frode Haltli on button accordion and<br />

Vegar Vårdal on violin and hardanger fiddle.<br />

Duo Cahalen Morrison and Eli West produce lush,<br />

soulful, organic and earthy music <strong>the</strong>y describe<br />

as ‘old-time music styled for <strong>the</strong> 21st century’.<br />

Multi-instrumentalists Morrison and West’s debut<br />

album The Holy Coming of The Storm led to<br />

an invite from Bob Harris to record a session<br />

for his BBC Radio 2 show in <strong>the</strong> studio, as he<br />

described <strong>the</strong>ir music as “quite extraordinary”.<br />

Uniting <strong>the</strong> technical and creative talents of<br />

two virtuoso musicians, Guitar Summit features<br />

Californian guitar maestro Walter Strauss, who<br />

was described as “a many-layered, multi-textured,<br />

one-man folk festival” by Maverick Magazine, and<br />

Scotland’s Tony McManus, who deftly brings <strong>the</strong><br />

ornamentation normally associated with pipes<br />

and fiddles to his traditional guitar sound.<br />

Catford and Eilidh Grant<br />

“This is an engaging excursion as a trio of<br />

North-East musicians, including two founders<br />

of <strong>the</strong> seasoned folk band <strong>the</strong> Old Blind Dogs,<br />

emigrate musically to <strong>the</strong> US West coast to<br />

come up with original songs which combine<br />

creamy vocal harmonies and some silky<br />

string settings.” (The Scotsman) Tonight <strong>the</strong>y<br />

will be joined by guest Nigel Hitchcock.<br />

Former Danny Kyle Open Stage winner, Eilidh Grant<br />

loves to sing Scottish traditional songs - and is<br />

especially fond of those of Robert Burns, but her<br />

feel for and interpretation of lyrics shows when<br />

she switches to a more contemporary style.<br />

Brooklyn native Rebecca Pronsky is one of New<br />

York’s finest singers/songwriters. She visits <strong>Glasgow</strong><br />

to share a new crop of her dark country-tinged<br />

gems. Her latest album Viewfinder was released to<br />

rave reviews in April. “…an outstanding lyricist with<br />

<strong>the</strong> ability to stop you in your tracks.” (BBC Radio 2)<br />

Founder member of Ceolbeg, Barbara Dymock was<br />

raised in <strong>the</strong> vocal traditions of her Scots/Irish<br />

background. After a break from <strong>the</strong> music scene to<br />

pursue a medical career and raise a family, a voice<br />

described as “one of <strong>the</strong> Scottish folk scene’s best”<br />

(The Herald) is back with a new quartet line up.<br />

James Keelaghan<br />

One of <strong>the</strong> most distinctive voices on <strong>the</strong><br />

Canadian music scene, James Keelaghan is a<br />

masterful story-teller. His literate song-writing<br />

has earned him a host of prestigious awards<br />

and nominations, and his latest album, House of<br />

Cards features tracks co-written with <strong>the</strong> likes of<br />

David Francey, Karine Polwart and Rose Cousins.<br />
