The Gift.
FEW THINGS are as heartwarming
as seeing the eyes of a child light up
when they receive a gift. For many of
the children served by The Salvation
Army, getting festively wrapped
packages that hold games or toys
is a rare occurrence.
Yet every day, we are blessed with
seeing the eyes of a child light up
when they receive a hot meal, a safe
place to sleep, the chance to be
reunited with a parent, or even simple
encouragement. Providing the gifts
of basic human needs is essential
to the mission of The Salvation Army,
for we know they form the foundation
of hope.
Through the eyes of children, this
Annual Report reminds us how
crucial each gift of time, materials
or money is to sustaining life and
building hope. And it is because
of your generous support that
the children and adults who pass
through our doors are able to see
a brighter future.

The Salvation Army, an international movement,
is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.
Its message is based on the Bible.
For that, we count our blessings:
approximately 170,000 people were
helped in 2006 at six Salvation Army
corps and camp locations with the
assistance of 12,299 volunteers
who gave 40,298 hours of time.
