BASEFIX 790
DESCRIPTION:
Basefix 790 is a ready to spray clear sealer for various applications with basecoat/
clearcoat systems and sensitive substrates. Its uses are:
A. A fast drying clear for door jambs and interior parts.
B. A clear insulating coat on sanded through areas.
PRODUCT: Basefix 790
REDUCERS: —Autocryl Reducer Fast: a fast flash reducer suitable for spot and panel repairs.
Temperature ranges from 60°–75°F (16°–24°C).
—Autocryl Reducer Medium: a medium temperature reducer for spot and panel
repairs, also for larger areas. Temperature ranges from 70°–85°F (20°–30°C).
—Sikkens Reducer SRA 7.0: a specially formulated solvent for spot repairs. May
also be used in Basefix 790 at all temperature levels.

A. Autobase ® Plus, after a flash-off time of 15 to 20 minutes (only for interior parts
not exposed to direct sunlight).
B. All existing finishes including lacquer after degreasing and sanding with #P500
grit dry or #P800 grit wet (the fade out area must be scuffed with a grey scuffing
pad). Any Sikkens primer surfacer after sanding with #P500 grit paper dry or
#P800 grit wet.
The application method and mixing ratio are dependent on the specific use of the
product. Select the usage that is best for the job from A, or B or below, and follow
the appropriate instructions:

Application Method: Apply 2 to 3 single
coats of Basefix 790 over Autobase Plus.

The application (overspray) edge that
occurs on the outside of the car part can be
sanded smooth after 1 hour at 70°F (20°C).
If desired, Basefix 790 can be polished
when dry.
B. A clear insulating coat on sanded through areas.
(Method for sanded through area on second repair.)
Prior to applying Basefix 790, apply 3 light coats of primer surfacer Allow to dry.
Sand with #P500 grit paper dry or #P800 grit wet.

OR ALTERNATIVELY-
If using Sikkens Reducer SRA 7.0, mix 100
parts by volume of Basefix 790 with 50
parts by volume of Reducer SRA 7.0.
Application Method: Apply one or two
single coats of Basefix 790 with adequate
flash-off time at least 3–5 minutes at 70°F
(20°C). After the last coat is applied, allow
15–20 minutes flash off time at 70°F (20°C)
before proceeding with light coats of
Autobase Plus. The Autobase Plus spot
repair should stay within the area that is
sealed with Basefix 790.

NOTICE:
Do not handle until the Material Safety Data Sheets have been read and
understood. Regulations require that all employees be trained on Material Safety
Data Sheets for all chemicals with which they come in contact. The manufacturer
recommends the use of an organic vapor respirator or air-supplied respirator when
exposed to vapors or spray mist.
