Exir Telecom is a global technology leader servicing the coaxial and RF 

industry in both the broadcasting and telecom sectors. Our focus is to

Building on tradition 

At Exir Telecom, our focus has long been on the development and 

manufacture of innovative, long-lasting RF products offering superior 

reliability and performance for the worldwide market. Previously Teracom 

Components, we became Exir Telecom in 2008 after becoming part 

of the Exir Group. Though our name is new, our products continue to 

be built with more than 80 years of experience and tradition stretching 

back to the first RF infrastructures to be built in Sweden. 

From broadcasting to telecom 

Based in Hörby, side by side with one of Sweden’s primary television 

and radio broadcasting sites, we evolved together with the broadcasting 

industry. When cellular networks eventually began to appear, 

we simply applied our already well-established principles to the new 

technology, making us an instant supplier of high quality components 

to the telecom sector. 

Today our position on the worldwide market continues to grow 

stronger thanks to the extensive production knowledge and manufacturing 

capacity available to us as part of the Exir Group. To better 

serve major telecom operators and OEMs, Exir Telecom’s management, 

marketing and sales functions are now located just outside of 

Stockholm in Kista, Sweden’s “Silicon Valley”.

Having been around since long before the dawn of modern

No External Weather-Proofing 

HIGH QUALITY O-RINGS 

Instead of requiring labour-intensive and expensive, external weatherproofing, 

our connectors provide built-in weather protection 

through the use of high quality O-rings placed in critical areas inside 

the products. A connector from Exir Telecom has up to six O-rings to 

protect against moisture. Even when the cable jacket is damaged, O- 

rings around the outer conductor prevent moisture and humidity from 

entering the connector. 

EXCEEDS IP68 

Our products have been tested for performance in a variety of extreme 

climatic conditions, from the coldest to the warmest temperatures 

and at different levels of humidity. Our use of O-rings makes our 

products in exposed situations, dust-tight and water-pressure proof 

down to 25 metres / 82 feet. This is equivalent to a pressure of 2.5 

bar, a rating which far exceeds the requirements for IP68 classification 

according to international IEC standards.

Full Cable Compatibility 

Exir Telecom´s single piece connectors are constructed to fit all major 

cable brands specified on the product pages. Our unique design allows 

the connector to fit different cable dimensions. 

Electrical Performance 

To achieve reliable system performance it is critical that all system 

components maintain high quality and excellent electrical values time 

after time. Choosing high quality materials prevents intermodulation 

and ensures superior conductivity. Contact surfaces are silver-plated 

to provide excellent conductivity, and for reasons of durability we 

have avoided soldering in order to eliminate the risk of cracking that 

can occur in soldered joints over time. To further prevent intermodulation 

all products are delivered with plastic lids to protect critical areas 

from dirt and moisture during installation. 

Simple Installation Procedure 

Exir Telecom understands the importance of a fast and easy installation 

process. Our designs are based on years of practical experience 

and a commitment to developing user-friendly products. To further 

simplify the installation process all products come with illustrated 

mounting instructions. Helpful installation videos are also available at

How our built-in sealing system saves 

you money in the long run 

One of the most common causes of failure at telecom sites is water leakage. 

Installers must therefore go to great lengths to seal connectors by 

taping and applying other weatherproofing materials. But with products 

from Exir Telecom, installers never need to tape our connectors. This 

make installation, which is often performed under adverse conditions like 

hanging from a tower while exposed to winds, much easier and faster. As 

a result, our products represent the most economically sound investment 

you can make.

Växjö Radio Systems has been working with products from 

Exir Telecom for many years. ”Without tape,” says Karlsson, 

”not only the initial installation but future service of the site 

as well is performed much more quickly and easily.” Exir Telecom’s 

products are completely waterproof thanks to a unique 

system of O-rings that seal out water at all critical points 

within the connector. Manufacturing components in this

manner does make them somewhat more expensive in comparison 

to less sophisticated products. However, the savings 

achieved through reduced installation time, the elimination 

of external sealing materials and the avoidance of rebuilds 

or service due to water damage more than compensate for 

this added expense. 

Thanks to Exir Telecom’s waterproof system featuring built-in O-rings, you will never need to use 

any external sealing with our products. This saves you time and money by: 

1 eliminating the need to purchase and apply external weatherproofing materials 

2 avoiding having to undo weatherproofing in order to take sweep measurements, and 

3 not having to return to the site to repair leaking connections caused by faulty weatherproofing. 

As Exir Telecom’s products are built to last a minimum of 25 years, no 

maintenance is necessary. 

The added costs of tape, combined with the increased costs of more frequent breakdowns, service, 

etc, may be marginal when considering a single site, but multiply these costs by 100 or even 

by 1000 sites, and the expense becomes far more sizeable.

HOW WE STOP WATER 

FROM GETTING IN 

With simpler products there is a sizeable risk that water and moisture 

will enter into the antenna system. This can occur in various ways, the 

most likely of which being through poorly sealed connectors, jumper 

cables or grounding kits. 

SNOW AND ICE 

HUMIDITY AND HEAVY RAIN 

External sealants do not protect against moisture that migrates within 

the feeder system. Water that collects in antenna panels or amplifiers 

can travel down through the system if the connector interface 

is not waterproof. Should a crack or hole appear in the feeder cable’s 

plastic jacket, water will enter and travel along the outer conductor 

to nearby connectors. Exir Telecom’s built-in O-ring system prevents 

migration of this kind from occurring inside antenna lines. 

FROM THE COLDEST TO 

THE WARMEST CLIMATIC 

CONDITIONS 

Exir Telecom’s products are developed to withstand all climatic conditions. 

They have been designed primarily for the harsh Scandinavian 

climate, made to function in the freezing cold of near Arctic winters. 

Our products have been tested for performance in a variety of extreme 

climatic conditions, from the coldest to the warmest temperatures 

and at various humidity levels. They are also proven to be dusttight 

and able to withstand the pressure of desert installation. 

DUST AND SAND STORMS 

SALT WATER AND STRONG WINDS 

Products from Exir Telecom are designed to operate problem-free 

for a minimum of 25 years without any maintenance or any external 

sealing. Our products have built-in weather protection consisting 

of O-ringsmade of EPDM. These O-rings feature completely seamless 

surfaces, superior workability of the sealing under extreme 

climatic actions and very good resistance to climatic changes, ozone 

and UV-radiation. O-rings of this type are used in the most demanding 

and highly critical applications including nuclear power 

plants, military uses and various medical equipment. 

As our products require no external sealing whatsoever, you will never 

have to worry about the unnecessary cost, time-consumption and annoyance 

of taping ever again. 

EXCEEDS IP 68 

The International Standards IP Protection Classification established 

by IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) provides a system 

for specifying enclosures of electrical equipment on the basis of the 

degree of protection required. In order to be awarded IP68 classification 

a product must be able to withstand a water pressure of 0.1 bar 

for 30 minutes. This corresponds to a depth one metre of water. 

Exir Telecom’s products for exposed situations have been successfully 

tested to withstand 2.5 bar. This means that they can safely operate at 

depths of 25 metres under water, which far exceeds the requirements 

of the international IP68 standard.

when there are deadlines to be met? 

Exir Telecom recognises these pressures, which is why we have developed a series of 

flexible, on-site training courses designed to fit around your work schedule - not ours. 

This increasingly popular training option minimises ’lost’ time travelling to an off-site 

venue, and allows installers to conveniently update their skills at their place of work even 

if the network is being constructed at several sites simultaneously. A typical connector 

installation course lasts half a day and can accommodate up to eight participants. 

Our on-site training scheme is actually a series of related courses which focus on 

the practical aspects of working with connectors and cables. This is a vitally important 

area, as incorrectly installed connectors can result in major power dissipation. 

In simple terms, doing the job right the first time results in the highest level of cost 

efficiency in the long run. 

HANDS-ON TRAINING FOR EVERYONE 

All of our instructors have extensive ’hands-on’ experience working with mobile telephony 

networks in a variety of situations. This means they are capable of answering 

questions on both a theoretical and practical level. 

During our Connector Installation Course all participants are given the opportunity to 

install each of the connector types available in our program. Our qualified instructors are 

on hand to answer questions and to lend a helping hand when needed. They also check 

each installation to ensure that it meets the required standards of workmanship.

PRODUCT PROFILE 

Our cable preparation tools automate the task of preparing 

feeder cables, resulting in substantial time savings for 

installers. Developed for use with Exir Telecom´s connector 

program, these tools greatly simplify connector installation 

by precisely cutting and trimming cables to the correct dimensions 

in one simple step. 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE 

Begin by using a hacksaw to flush cut the end of the cable 

at the crest of a copper corrugation. Attach the cable preparation 

tool to a compatible drill and insert the tool over the 

cable end. Using even pressure and a constant drill speed, 

proceed to strip the cable jacket and copper tube until the 

tool indicates that the cable has been cut to the correct 

dimensions. Be sure to read and follow all important safety 

instructions delivered with the product. Do not use with deformed 

or damaged cable ends.

Jumper Cables 

Jumper cables are available in any length and offer a generous bending radius. Exir Telecom´s jumper 

cables are water-pressure proof down to 25 metres, which is equivalent to a pressure of 2.5 bar 

and far exceeds the requirements for IP68-classification. Consequently there is no need for tape or 

any other external weatherproofing. 

Every cable is tested and then individually labelled with the results to identify its measured return 

loss performance within the 0-2.2 GHz range. To avoid cracking over time, Exir Telecom´s jumper 

cables have no soldered parts.

Exir Telecom´s EMP protectors and grounding kits protect telecom sites from lightning strikes and 

surges that damage equipment and cause system breakdown. The products have been tested with 

a lightning pulse of 50 kA, 10/350 ms, and have passed without sustaining any damage or loss of

Grounding kits from Exir Telecom feature an efficient 

design enabling multiple units to be mounted very 

close together. A simple, adjustable construction 

allows for easy attachment to a wide range of cables 

from various manufacturers. These grounding kits are 

reusable and 100% weatherproof without the need 

for tape or any other external weatherproofing. 

The contact surfaces are designed to closely fit the 

corrugated surface of the outer conductor, thus 

avoiding unnecessary pressure. As a result, the 

effect of grounding on the VSWR measurement of

Tool kits from Exir Telecom provide installers all they need for 

installing grounding kits quickly and easily. Our grounding devices 

require only one small opening in the cable jacket in order 

to function properly. The opening is made using a hot tip 

cutting tool together with a simple template. Fully illustrated

TMA 

Exir Telecom offers a wide range of TMAs including Twin and Dual Band TMAs. Their function is to 

amplify the uplink signals and trough filters separate the Rx and Tx signals. To inject the DC 

supply voltage into the feeder, Exir Telecom offers a bias-tee function for both indoor and outdoor. 

The TMAs from Exir Telecom provide security in the event of a possible malfunction. Should 

anything prevent the TMA from working correctly, a bypass function automatically diverts the 

signals and activates an alarm notification over the PDU (Power Distribution Unit), indicating 

the malfunction via LEDs. 

The TMA Portfolio from Exir Telecom includes:
