A note regarding Technical
Report M-TR135: Performance
Comparisons Between Geometrics
G-880/881 and Marine Magnetics
SeaSPY Systems
Based on concerns over the test methodology
employed by Geometrics when we tested Marine
Magnetics’ SeaSPY magnetometer, we have elected
to voluntary cease further publication of the
Technical Report M-TR135, and have permanently
withdrawn the report from circulation and removed
it from our website.
New to Geometrics.com:
GeoEel Solid Digital
Streamer & P-Cable
Geometrics is pleased to announce the release of two
new products for marine seismic surveys.
The GeoEel Solid TM from Geometrics: Superior electronics
with a patented solid active section design
that delivers higher-quality data than ever before. The
smallest-diameter solid design available (only 44.5 mm) ,
the GeoEel Solid is easy to deploy, easy to transport and
can be shipped by air. Click here to read more...
The Geometrics Video Library:
8250+ Viewers and Counting...
Geometrics is pleased to present a video library for
your review. Included are video tutorials, product
demonstrations, and survey reviews. Our videos cover
all of our product lines, a corporate overview and
details about our highly trained, customer-centric
rental and support department.
Geometrics Streamer Manufacturing Group
Geometrics is also proud to announce the shipment of its first GeoEel Solid to
Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC; President: Hirobumi
Kawano). The GeoEel Solid is part of a new marine research valued at
17.3 Billion Yen or $207 Million USD.
The P-Cable TM offers high resolution 3D
surveying for detailed mapping of targets
in the shallow subsurface. The revolutionary
P-Cable system provides unparalleled data
quality and resolution far exceeding
conventional 3D. Expect comparable or better
resolution than high-resolution 2D, but with
the added benefit of 3D structural control.
Magnetometer Upgrades
Geometrics is pleased to announce some major upgrades to its G-882 TVG
marine transverse gradiometer product. A new altimeter and housing (Image A) has
been developed to ensure top performance. The new altimeter is higher frequency
and thus less likely to interfere with a ship’s fathometer or side scan equipment.
THE METALMAPPER:
UXO Discrimination Made Easy
The MetalMapper offers the ability to reduce UXO site
remediation costs by 50%. It is a next generation UXO
discrimination system capable of fully interrogating a
target item to characterize the size, depth and shape
or a buried object. This allows scrap metal to be
distinguished from UXO. This instrument brings advanaced
SERDP and ESTCP proven technology from the
lab to the field. Click here to read more...
Earthquake and Tsunami of Japan
Geometrics would like to extend our thoughts and
prayers to those affected by the earthquake and
tsunami. Geometrics is owned by OYO Corporation
of Japan and we are thankful that our colleagues and
their familes are safe.
We salute those who are making an effort to help
and encourage our customers to do the same.
A. B. C.
We’ve also re-engineered the unit so that up to 60 lbs. (27 kg) of non-magnetic lead
diver weights can be added easily (Image B) to ensure better depth control. The deeper
tow will result in even more highly defined maps than ever before. Of course, more
weight requires a simpler method of transferring the unit from the dock or boat to the
sea. We’re now offering a newly engineered release mechanism for davit operation
which can double as a tow point for small depressor fins (Image C).
The Geometrics Model G-882TVG
Transverse Gradiometer system mates
the well-proven high-performance
cesium sensor with internal highsensitivity
and high-speed CM-221
Larmor Counter for simultaneous gradient
measurements. This advanced
integrated magnetometer system provides
unmatched versatility in performance,
with a wide sensor separation
for maximum target detection efficiency and survey cost effectiveness. The system
comprises a transverse wing and two G-882 Cesium Vapor magnetometer fish with
stabilizer weights and dihedral fins. Tow cables may be up to 150m in length with
standard power supply or up to 700m with a high capacity voltage sense supply.
