Duke has made a habit out of playing in the NCAA
Tournament with an ACC-leading 14 appearances
in the Big Dance.
Duke sits alone atop the list of most NCAA
Tournament Appearances by ACC schools.
Duke’s nine NCAA Tournament wins are the
second most in the conference behind Georgia
Tech.
When Duke defeated South Carolina, 3-1 in
the 1984 tournament, it was not only the program’s
first NCAA Tournament victory, but the
ACC’s, as well.
Duke head coach Jolene Nagel has seven NCAA
Tournament appearances in 10 seasons at the
helm of the Blue Devils, including second round
appearances in each of the last four seasons. Her
seven appearances rank tied for the most by a
coach in ACC history.
Duke’s run in the 1993 NCAA Tournament marked
the ACC’s first appearance in the Elite Eight and is
one of just two league appearances that deep in the
tournament.
