Parent and Tot Preschool
A gentle step into the preschool world for your toddler,
with a parent or caregiver on hand for extra enjoyment and
support. Dabble in a table of cool cooked pasta, sift sand, flap
a parachute, or perform a rain dance! Parents and caregivers
learn new songs and play ideas as they join in the fun with
their little ones. Social relations, motor skills and language
development thrive in this friendly, stimulating setting. The
class includes snack, gym time, art and group time, scaled
just right for busy toddlers!

Pops and Tots
Pops and Tots is the place to be on a Saturday morning, with
more of the fun and learning toddlers enjoy – with Dad or
Grandpa along for the ride! Once a month, meet with other
fathers and grandfathers and their little ones for stories,
snack, gym time, and art. Make new friends, learn new
games and activities, and create special memories!

Fantasy Dance
Does your child love to hear music and dance? Preschoolers
and tots find joy in the freedom to move and respond to
creative dance at this age. Mix this together with pretend,
stories, and songs, this class will delight your child!
Helen Boris and Kerri Ringel are both experienced and
loving enrichment instructors who love to act silly and
have fun! Each has her particular experience in the various
highlights and components of this program. This class may
add an additional 30-minute playtime extension for students
in the GJK two-year-old program. Children are walked to
and from other programs if located at the Takiff Center and
bring their own lunch to class. Comfortable clothes and
gym shoes are recommended. Please label all lunches and
clothing.

Fantasy Play - “Let’s Pretend”
This class is geared toward children two years of age who are
ready to make the jump to a “by myself ” class. Class includes
props, costumes, accessories, rhythms, and music for weekly
theme explorations into a child’s imagination. “Fantasy”
builds listening skills and self-esteem while focusing on the
sense of wonder and fun that comes naturally to this age.
Children are walked to and from other programs in the
building. 30-minute playtime extension may be included in
the program for those tots coming from the GJK two-yearold
program.

Alphabet Antics and Gym
Sounds and letters come alive through puppets, art projects,
finger plays, and stories. Three-year-olds learn through
books, crafts, and sensory experiences! Activities are ageappropriate
and add to the child’s confidence and selfesteem.
The first half of the alphabet is covered during fall
semester. A review in the spring is followed by study of the
second half of the alphabet. A short gym portion is included
in the alphabet program. Children are walked from their
individual preschool programs to the class.

Tot Clay Play
This fun and exciting clay class for 2’s cultivates your child’s
creativity through theme-based clay projects using literature.
Each week, the children enjoy listening to a story then create
their own original clay work of art based on the book. Class
incorporates playtime and music in the classroom. The
children work on learning fine motor skills as they create
objects with clay. The instructor picks up the children from
their nursery school classroom and walks them to Tot Clay
Play. Children should bring a lunch and beverage.

Pee Wee Sportsters
This active class introduces children to the fundamentals of
sports such as soccer, T-ball, basketball, football, and more.
Our goal is to enable each child to develop both fine and
large motor skills and nurture his/her growth socially and
emotionally through teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Daily large group activities and free play is also included.

Mitey Movement
Your preschooler will love this popular movement, dance,
rhythms, and games class! Beginning with an energetic
warm up and yoga animal stretches, the class focuses on
developing simple large motor skills like hopping, skipping,
and jumping, as well as rhythms and basic athletic skills.
Simple dances and games are theme and holiday motivated,
and music to share is welcome. The class focuses on
developing confidence and self-esteem, and encouraging
listening skills in this fun, free setting.
Children are escorted to movement class from their preschool
program if located in the building. Children should wear or
bring gym shoes. All clothing should be labeled.

Children’s Circle A.M.
Half-Day Preschool
Learning and friendship are the cornerstones of this
5-morning-a-week program as children broaden their
experiences and deepen their understanding through play
and hands-on activities. Our loving teachers create enriching
opportunities throughout the school year with science
exploration, stories and literacy activities, music, art and
math. Our busy morning includes time for free play and
discovery, teacher-facilitated learning, snack, and a hot
lunch.
New children who meet age requirements may begin the
program throughout the year. Each child must have a medical
exam within six months prior to entry in the program. This
class follows the Glencoe public school schedule for school
closing dates and operates in conjunction with the Children’s
Circle full day classes.

Creative Cookers & Games
If your little ones love to cook and have fun, this is the class
for them. Every week we prepare something different, such as
pastry cream, empanadas, pate a choux, or decorated cookies.
We often showcase foods from other parts of the world. With
exciting new recipes and themed weeks, the sky is the limit!
The little chefs learn basics in kitchen safety, sanitation,
and culinary terminology. They also hone their math skills,
learning how and why we measure before cooking and
baking. Children are walked to class by instructor if needed.
Section II: Extend class by 30-minutes and have your child
move around and play games. When time allows, we make
a cooking related project like napkin origami, or play food
alphabet games.

Preschool Sports of Sorts
Sports of Sorts not only teaches children the basic skills of
playing a particular sport, it also teaches them skills needed
to work with one another as teammates, and to accept each
individual as a valuable player. Some of the sports taught and

Explore and Discover and Gym
This is a hands-on class for curious preschool scientists
eager to learn about their world. Children perform actual
experiments with everyday objects and ideas to learn about
the world. Topics include the five senses and human body,
nutrition and exercise, the earth and space travel, and more!
What is the longest bone in the body? Did dinosaurs drink
the same water we do today? Why is there no sound in space?
These are just some of the questions we explore and answer
in our class sessions.
An additional 30 minute vigorous and fun movement and
games section will precede or follow class. This class will
be offered in two sections with time variations based on the
individual child’s preschool in the building. In both sections,
children will be walked after class to their preschool at the
appropriate time.
Section I begins with a gym and games section from 9:45-
10:15 a.m. in Room 229. Children then have some free play
time in Room 228 and prepare for science class to follow at
10:30 a.m. Drop off at preschool is at 11:30 a.m.
Section II begins with the science class section in Room 228
at 10:30-11:30 a.m. followed by lunch (parent provided) and
the gym and games section. Drop off is at 12:30 p.m.

Math Magic and Gym
In this class your preschooler enters the magical world of math,
numbers, shapes, and sizes. Each week, we count with your
preschool “count” or “countess” and explore a different math
concept. Children learn about shapes, patterns, measuring,
time, money, adding and subtracting, and so much more.
Our activities are all number oriented with math games.
We bake and measure, measure an object or room, discover
a shape and size and, in general, learn how much math
impacts our lives.
An additional 30-minute vigorous and fun movement and
games section will precede or follow Math Magic. This class
is offered in two sections with variations in time based on the
child’s preschool drop off in the building.
