MEMORY VERSE
Luke 19:10
“…For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
• Jesus came to earth because we are all lost in our sins. He wants to save us
from eternal separation from God
• Practice verse by playing a game
o Choose one child to be Jesus
o Have that child close his eyes
o Hide something in the room
o The child opens his eyes
o Tell the child, “I have lost ______, and it will be destroyed if you don’t find
it”
o The class says the verse
o The child, pretending to be Jesus, seeks and finds the lost object
o Repeat, giving each child a chance to look for the lost object

ACTIVITIES
• Application
o Zacchaeus did two specific things. He received Jesus into his house, and
he stopped doing what he knew was wrong and tried to make it right
o Jesus is asking to come into each of our lives. We need to receive Him
and to turn away from what we know is wrong
o Give the children an opportunity to receive Jesus as their Savior
• Color
o Color the picture with the memory verse on it
• Act out the story
o Set a chair next to the large tree the children colored
o Choose children to play Jesus, Zacchaeus, and the crowd
o Help the children act out the story as you retell it. Have Zacchaeus stand
on the chair when he climbs the tree
• Song
“Zacchaeus was a wee little man,
And a wee little man was he.
He climbed up in a sycamore tree,
For the Lord he wanted to see.
And as the Savior passed that way,
He looked up in the tree.
And He said, ‘Zacchaeus, you come down!
For I’m going to your house today,
For I’m going to your house today.’”
