HISTORY<br />

was produced from pig iron<br />
in a charcoal furnace.<br />
Steel refining today:<br />
The foundation of Stahlwerk Annahütte was<br />
authorised by the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg,<br />
Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg in 1537. And this<br />
approval permitted the mining and production of iron<br />
ore. During the industrial revolution, the mining and<br />
processing of iron was modernized. In 1924, the plant<br />
came into the possession of the Zeller family and was<br />
named “Annahütte”.<br />
A new era began in 1975 when Dipl.-Ing. Max Aicher<br />
took over the enterprise and hence began the<br />
success story of Stahlwerk Annahütte. With extensive<br />
rationalisation and modernisation measures the<br />
plant accelerated the heights of the present state<br />
of achievement. Rebar quality steel was followed by<br />
the production of threadbars, prestressed steel and<br />
steel bars. Numerous patent applications were<br />
submitted, finishing departments were placed in<br />
operation and the manufacturing of accessory parts<br />
began. The company became an important partner<br />
for the automotive industry and structural<br />
engineering.<br />
