As a Level II trauma center, Gundersen Lutheran meets national benchmarks established by the American College of Surgeons for demonstrated commitment to superior trauma care. Immediate, specialized, multidisciplinary care is delivered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to treat critical injuries and life-threatening events. The Trauma & Emergency Center at Gundersen Lutheran includes all components identified with optimal trauma care: access, acute hospital care, rehabilitation, research activities and prevention. Our responsibility to provide a continuum of care extends beyond the 10,000 square feet of our actual Trauma & Emergency Center; we provide disaster preparedness, emergency medical and surgical patient care, education, and coordination point services spanning 20,000 square miles and more than 30,000 patients per year. Ancillary Services Providing the highest level of trauma care for our region requires a rapid response to emergency calls and transportation to care facilities. Gundersen Lutheran offers the most advanced pre-hospital patient care available through its wholly owned subsidiary, Tri-State Ambulance. Highly trained response teams are equipped with the latest time-saving technology, making response times faster and accurate patient information available to emergency medical technicians in the field. Wireless laptop systems allow paramedics to interact in real time with the dispatch center, and to call up database records before the ambulance arrives on the scene.
